Summary Introduction
To review:
The reason behind the reaction catalyzed by aconitase not going as planned when an animal ingests the plant toxin, fluoroacetate.
Introduction:
The Kreb cycle or the tricarboxylic acid cycle (TCA) cycle occurs in a cell organelle called the mitochondrion. The main purpose of the TCA cycle is to produce the energy carriers NADH (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) and FADH2 (flavin adenine dinucleotide) that are used during ATP (adenosine triphosphate) synthesis.
