Summary Introduction

To review:

The net equation for the citric acid cycle.

Introduction:

In all the living aerobic organisms, a series of biochemical reactions takes place in order to release the energy, which is stored in a 2-carbon acetyl compound called acetyl-CoA by the process ofcitric acid cycle or Krebs cycle. This process occurs in the matrix region of the mitochondria in a living cell. The first compound formed in this cycle is a three-carbon acid and thus this cycle is known as the tricarboxylic acid cycle (TCA).
