Summary Introduction

To fill: The following summary equation for cellular respiration, starting with the sugar glucose.

Introduction: Aerobic respiration is a type of cellular respiration, in which the oxygen is consumed as a reactant to generate adenosine triphosphate (ATP). It is the most efficient mode of respiration in most of the eukaryotic and prokaryotic organisms.

Answer to Problem 1IQ

Explanation of Solution

Cellular respiration is the utilization of the oxygen for the breakdown of food material for the release of energy. It is the aerobic harvesting of energy present in the food. There are three stages of cellular respiration glycolysis, citric acid cycle, and the electron transport. In cellular respiration, with the help of oxygen, cells break down the glucose molecule into simpler forms. From the oxidation of glucose, water and carbon dioxide are exhaled with some chemical energy in the form of ATP and small amount of heat.

Conclusion

The reaction of cellular respiration is represented as follows:

C6H12O6(glucose)+6O26CO2 +6H2O+energy

Interested in studying ethanol fermentation, you prepare two solutions of yeast extract that contains the cytosolic contents of Saccharomyces cerevisiae. You add glucose to both extracts at time zero, but to one (in red) you also add inorganic phosphate (added in two batches). Using a gas sensor, you monitor the CO2 generated by the two solutions over time and obtain the following data:
