With a staggering number of 14.5 million children living in poverty in America, which mean that children who come from these families are at a higher risk of outcomes. In an article written by (Rodgers,H,R,2015), poverty is a massive societal problem with a multitude of negative cause and effect relationships evolving from poverty(2015). Children raised in poverty are at a higher risk of an adverse health issues such as mental illness, malnourishment, child abuse, victims of violence, lack of quality schools and/or daycare. While the government has given allowance for each state,city and county the overall benefits are not successful as should be. ,Food stamps, even though they provide food to feed a families. Households still don’t have enough benefits to last the entire month, which still means children at some point children face food shortage even in the care of a program. Parents who buy the food neglect to nutritional enough food to support children's brain. Which mean that the program may hinder where its intended to help. America has waged war on poverty, yet there is still questionable effort. Communities and their leaders have done little to contribute to changing these environments. Yet these entitlements have eluded some families who based on the same criteria may not meet the qualification for food benefits. One out of 4 families in poverty do not meet the qualifications for benefits. Moreover, food stamps are an excellent program however some individual families choose to abuse these programs. Care takers left in charge of benefits may participate in illegal activities, for a litany of reasons individuals sell SNAP for money or income for the other bills in the house. WIC, another popular program which aims to assist women, children and families help with pregnant women and children under five provides additional nutritional benefits. Parents living in poverty may have a diploma however the children are not getting the same quality education as children in wealthier areas. This also contributes the economic gap presented throughout lower rung neighborhoods. Children with lower quality educations are less likely to succeed in school. Inferior education is social injustice and the school system can improve upon this by taking government monies and investing in impoverished areas.
