Poverty is an issue that must be addressed to the population loud and clear or everyone will end up suffering. There are many families trying to survive and live from paycheck to paycheck. Unfortunately, there are some families that are unable to support himself or herself or any family member. One important key issue of poverty in the United States is inequality. Many Americans blame the poor people for their own fate but you should never judge a book by its cover. There can be many reasons why an individual or families end up in poverty. Poverty has been around as long as there has been an America. Programs have been set in place to help offset the issue, such as Food Stamps and housing. The government’s implementation of some of these programs is to ensure that the poor have a place to sleep and adequate meals to eat. There are issues with these programs that contribute to the furthering of poverty, but for the most part are more helpful than harmful. Poverty, a common problem in the US and yet, something that people consistently overlook. We are often unaware of the magnitude of poverty in the U.S and sometimes even disregard it. People living in destitution are at greater risk for behavioral and mental problems. Children or Teens who live in poverty are prone to poor academic achievements, become school dropouts , or grow subject to abuse or neglect. First of all, money is a big factor of poverty. Children that grow up in a poor family are most likely to become poor as well. A common situation  in America is homelessness due to the lack of money people cannot afford a home, so they have to turn to the streets. People usually beg for money on the streets just to get by for a couple of days since they do not have any money.  Divorce can also cause poverty because if a couple separates that means less income coming home due to their separation. If a family cannot get used to the change in their family it can lead to poverty. Usually one parent stays with the children and the other parent does not help. We live in a world where technology is advanced and it has solved many of our problems in the past, but an issue that has not been solved is poverty. Poverty is being extremely poor to the point where one cannot afford the daily necessities to survive, like food and shelter. Amongst the many problems we face today such as, war and climate change, poverty is a significant problem we have yet to solve. Poverty cannot be solved in a day nor in a year, in fact it might never be completely solved. Taking the right steps to significantly reduce poverty such as, becoming strict on those who apply for government assistance, donating leftover food for those in need and funding more resources into programs for rehabilitation may help decrease poverty.

This epidemic is caused by numerous reasons but a few of the main reasons are the poor economy, drug and alcohol abuse, and lack of education. When people don't have an education, they can’t find a good job or sometimes no job at all. In addition, for many people their addiction to drugs and/or alcohol will cause them to lose their job because of high absenteeism or for failing a drug screening. However, America is on verge some frail state because of Economic and political mismanagement that is halting back to create a better image of America globally. For example, some ethnic groups like Hispanic and black students do not have access to the same educational programs and infrastructure as the white students do. In addition, sometimes people within those groups are not eligible to qualify for social programs making them experience extreme poverty (Moore and Redd, 2002). Family structure is solidly related to whether or not children are poor. Statistics show that non-Hispanic children living with a single parent were nearly six times inclined to be poor as non-Hispanic white children living with both parents. This rate is not the same for black children. The poverty rate for black children living with a single mother was 47 percent. It is almost five times the rate of black children living with married parents.
