The more description you provide, the easier it will be for your instructor to understand what your project is going to be and why it is important.) 1. Project Description: What is the actual project or product that you will be creating / producing? Now, describe this project in detail. Response: The project will be a classroom management plan; it will contain classroom expectations and rules, procedures and routines, classroom setup, behavior plan, and emergency procedures. This classroom management plan will allow the teacher to set the tone in his/her classroom and give them something for them to refer back to or follow throughout the school year. Having a plan for these things and practicing it during the first couple of weeks of school allows teachers to be able to cut down on transition times and have the students prepared for what they need to do in different circumstances, even in some emergencies. 2. Rationale: State why you chose this project topic. How does this project fit into the broad area of education? How does it relate and/or benefit to your current work position or the job you are seeking? Response: The rationale of this project is to apply research on classroom management and make it into a plan that can be used in the classroom. As managing the classroom is a major part of teachers’ role, it is important for them to plan how they will conduct their classroom and handle certain situations. As a fourth-grade teacher, it is important that I manage my class well so that I am able to teach effectively. Doing research to make a classroom management plan will help me determine what things I can do to improve how I manage my class currently and prove why these changes will be beneficial. 3. Statement of Purpose: State what you plan to accomplish with your project. Page 1 of 3

EDUC 696 Response: I plan to create a Word document file as well as use Canva to create my resources, having the page breaks be the separation between different parts of the project. Within this file, I plan on creating the necessary materials and information needed to have a successful classroom management plan, resulting in relatively smooth transitions and minimal interruptions and confusion. By using this plan and following it would help the teacher have a relatively successful day of learning and growing in the classroom. Parts will include: -a list of rules that I would have posted in my classroom -classroom setup and organization plan (where student supplies, textbooks, and finished papers are located) -personal philosophy of education -emergency plan (emergency drills) -behavior and intervention plan -list and details of procedures (transitions, bathroom breaks, getting materials, group time) -accommodations, individualized plans, and planned differentiation template 4. Research-Based: State what sorts of journal and/or article information you will use to complete this project (i.e., what will you look for? What connection does your project topic have to current issues? What current issues need to be addressed with your topic? What issues do you perceive you will research?). Response: I will review journals and articles that discuss effective classroom management strategies as well as planning and organizing techniques specifically for classroom teachers. I will use the education databases that I can find at the Jerry Falwell Library online. I will also be using the Google Scholar search engine to find peer- reviewed articles and journals. In these databases, I will be looking for articles and journals that discuss behavior management techniques, classroom organization, as well as techniques for teaching procedures. For inspiration, I plan on using Teachers Pay Teachers as well as Pinterest. 5. Projected Application: Explain how you plan to use your project once it is completed? Be specific on the audience(s) who will use it… Response: The projected application of this classroom management plan project is for me to use it in my own classroom to hone my practices before starting another school year. This plan will allow me to evaluate my current practices to see what I could improve on, add, or even take away. By using research to make these decisions I will be able to justify the changes and determine what would work best for my classroom. While this classroom management plan will be used primarily when I start the new school year in August of this year, it will also be beneficial for the remainder of the current school year. This classroom management plan could also be shared with my colleagues when asked about what I do in my classroom, my administration, or when applying to a new school district. 6. Description of the projected outcomes: State what you think will happen as a result of completing this project. Keep it specific so that you can document whether or not it occurs. Response: The projected outcome of this project includes being able to improve my classroom management techniques. This plan will allow me to be prepared for many situations and allow me to be a more effective teacher, focused more on teaching the content and less on the aspects that are included in the plan.
