In business, a company’s break-even point is the point at which the costs of production of a product will be equal to the amount of revenue from the sale of the product. In Problems 71–74, solve the system of equations by graphing to find the number of units that need to be produced for the company to break even.
71. Producing T-Shirts The San Diego T-Shirt Company designs and sells T-shirts for promoters to sell at music concerts. The cost y (in dollars) to produce x T-shirts is given by the equation y = 15x + 1000, and the revenue y (in dollars) from the sale of these T-shirts is y = 25x. Find the breakeven point: the point where the line that represents the cost, y = 15x + 1000, intersects the revenue line, y = 25x. Interpret the x-coordinate and the y-coordinate of the break-even point.

- Q/Some students want to start a business that cleans and polishes cars. It takes 1.5 hours of labor and costs $2.25 in supplies to clean a car. It takes 2 hours of labor and costs $1.50 in supplies to polish a car. The students can work a total of 120 hours in one week. They also decide that they want to spend no more than $135 per week on supplies. The students expect to make a profit of $7.75 for each car that they clean and a profit of $8.50 for each car that they polish. One day, 30 small sundaes and 50 large sundaes were sold for $420. Another day, 15 small sundaes and 35 large sundaes were sold for $270. Sales tax is included in all prices. If x is the cost of a small sundae and y is the cost of a large sundae, write a system of equations to represent this situation. Peyton thinks that small sundaes cost $2.75 and large sundaes cost $6.75. Is Peyton correct? Justify your answer.
