Interpretation:
The given structures are to be expanded, and all the unshared electron pairs are to be shown. The molecular formula of cysteine and serotonin are to be written.
Concept Introduction:
In the bond line formula, the labels for individual carbon atoms are omitted. The bonds between carbon atoms are shown by lines. Thus, each line has one carbon atom at each end unless some other atom is shown.
To determine the molecular formula, the number of carbon and hydrogen atoms are counted. Other atoms, if any, are counted and written in alphabetical order.
