Identify at least two surface features of the orbital region that protect the eye.
To determine:
The surface features of the orbital region that is responsible for the protection of the eye.
Introduction:
The human face is divided into five different regions. These regions are auricular, orbital, nasal, oral, and mental. The region which includes eye and its related structures is known as orbital region.
Explanation of Solution
Most of the surface features of the orbital region are responsible for protecting the eye. There are three surface features of the orbital region. These features are as follows:
• Eyelids:
The function of eyelids is to protect the eyes against any object moving near the eye. It also prevents contact of airborne particles with the eyeball.
• Eyebrows:
They are responsible for protecting the eyes from sunlight and any possible mechanical damage to the eye.
• Superior palpebral fissure:
It is also known as upper eyelid crease. Most individuals can easily touch it. It also protects the eye.
