- One of the key aspects of Dell business model was postponement of the assembly until receiving customer orders. Explain how postponement can help reduce inventory.
1.
The polar opposite of a flexible supply network is a stiff supply chain. There may be a more appropriate example for a supply chain than strips of lath, but I believe it serves the purpose. The problem for supply chain executives is to strike the appropriate balance between a supply chain that is too lean (not resilient enough but saves money) and one that is too inflexible (robust and redundant that it is too costly to maintain and remain competitive)

- What does process planning entail? How would processplanning differ for batch and continuous processesAn online order system is up and running. The interface takes orders and distributes them to the distributors. There are two distinct distributors - if the order is more than 1000 dollars then it is handled carefully and if not then it is passed to the regular distributor. When the order is dispatched, inventory gets notified to reserve the items for further process. Draw a sequence diagram for the ordering system.Which approach to process planning is more useful in a time-sharing environment?
