Standard 1 Learning Development
This standard provides appropriate instruction for each child’s ability level. I understand that every child is unique in his or her own learning styles and development. It is imperative for students’ success that teachers implement developmentally appropriate experiences in the classroom. Therefore, I will provide students with unique and meaning but developmentally appropriate learning experiences and instruction that are challenging enough to foster learning and critical thinking.
Teachers understand how students learn, grow and develop in different ways, such as cognitive, linguistic, social, emotional, and physical. The purpose is to develop a great way to deal with challenges in learning development.

When I first become a teacher, I will set up my classroom with table in a group collaboration, but will also be easily utilized for individual learning. Students will have many opportunities to express themselves in many ways like independently and in a group setting. Students will also receive extrinsic motivation while learning how to motivate themselves intrinsically through a gained value and ownership of their own education. The importance of creating a learning environment that fosters learning, interaction, engagement, and motivation. I found that classroom management, rules, routines, and community building activities very fitting of this standard. The Classroom Management Plan, Classroom Expectations, Classroom Climate Activity, and a Student-Centered Discipline Plan will help the environment in the classroom.
Standard 4 Content Knowledge
This standard is to take advantage of a variety of teaching methods, provide instruction that will help increase students’ development of critical thinking and problem solving. When I become a teacher, I will strive to serve in different roles to provide teacher centered as well as learner centered instruction by taking advantage of different teaching methods and making the content more meaningful as well as accessible for every student. This standard explains that it is important for teachers to understand the content and different instructional methods in order to make the content equally
The first standard of the Ohio Standards for the Teaching Professional is, teachers understand student learning and development and respect the diversity of the students they teach. To apply this standard into my practice I plan on being able to observe the students I work with and understand how each student learns. To demonstrate that I am adhering to this standard I will find different ways to reward each student for being them and being strong for pushing through their obstacles.
As a teacher it is important to know who you are as a learner because it allows for you to help improve your educational experience and to help increase your knowledge. It also allows for you to open your mind to remembering that every person and every student in unique and how they learn will be completely different from one another. This means that in one class you could have thirty unique learners and it will be your job to make sure that you make each child’s educational experience meaningful to them.
As an educator, it is my job to find new ways for my students to learn that coincides with their particular learning style and takes advantage of their strengths. In all practical terms, this will mean finding new ways for each of my students to learn in their own particular way. As a whole, my students will need more reason to learn with authentic experiences, hands-on
As a teacher, I will work to fully provide opportunities for authentic learning, where every child feels valued, safe and included. My goal will be to find occasions every day to nurture independent learning, along with peer support that promotes a sense of personal growth and achievement. I recognize that every child has strengths and weaknesses, special talents, and specific needs, regardless of individual challenges. My objective will be to model appropriate behavior and show acceptance of everyone
In order for me to demonstrate understanding of this standard, I must consider the impact of the family and community on student learning, contribute to the overall development and improvement of the school, and work with other educators to share knowledge and improve practice. My artifact contributes to school initiatives, projects, and organizations teaching me how to teach and reach my ESL students through different strategies. The ESO training was beneficial for me to gain a deeper understanding of how important communication is when teaching others. I learned it is important to my lessons to include group work instead of individual work (and vice versa), evaluate students' performance on a test to decide whether to reteach the concept or move on to a new one. It is very important to collaborate with other teachers sharing fresh ideas and exchanging a variety of strategies to help relief the stress of math problems. The ESO training used everyday problems to solve math problems. Because we use math in our everyday life it is essential for me to keep my parents informed through emails and phone
In a non-standardized curriculum, students have more control over their learning. The teacher sets the umbrella of the standard but the students can choose what they want to learn from that standard. Student’s freedom of thought, right to question, and the freedom to spread ideas are encouraged in this classroom.
Successful teaching occurs when the teacher is able to select the most efficient method for reaching out to each student’s individual style of learning and inspire students to rise to their highest potential. While the responsibilities of a teacher are extensive (as one can serve as a teacher, a friend, a counselor, a disciplinarian, an entertainer, a facilitator), I believe that students should play a big part in shaping own education as well.
Hi Kelsey, when I was completing my AA and took intro to education, I was able to see a glimpse of all the different grades because I knew the assistant principal at the school I was at, and he offered to show me around each different grade level. What I noticed that was the same about each grade level, was that they all used learning centers, so I was wondering if you could come up with a way that you could teach this standard using different center activities.
In the practice of teaching, it is the responsibility of a teacher not only to teach students subject matter, but to teach students in order to enable them to grow and develop as a person. While it is essential for students to have an understanding of academic material, it is also equally as important that when students finish their education they have skills to use in
The standards attention on methods and a procedure beginning in the early grades, which provides teachers the time required to teach the students and provides them the time wanted to master them. While the standards put grade-specific goals, they do not describe how the standards must be educated or which tools should be applied to support students. States and areas know that there will need to be a variety of supports to make sure that all students, including those with specific needs and English language students, can master the standards. It is up to the states opinion to describe the full range of supports suitable for these students.
My classroom environment is designed in relation to the learning opportunities provided for students creating a positive, warm, and welcoming classroom environment. My classroom will foster a diverse atmosphere. This is important so each student may learn. I will have plenty of resources in my classroom that foster learning and allow students to feel comfortable. I will make my students feel comfortable in asking me questions. My classroom will be a tactile environment no items that will cause distraction to the students. I will also have items to help students relieve their anxiety. My classroom will foster student centered learning and students will be autonomous and will be able to work collaboratively on projects.
the best when they feel invested and responsible for the classroom community that they inhabit.
As a teacher, one’s role and responsibility should be towards the learners’ ability to learn and for learning to be as tailored made for the individual learner.
Consequently, a balance between prioritizing and unwrapping students must be employed to best target instruction for successful learning outcomes. Prioritizing the standards equips teachers with the ability to identify the foundation of a unit, and then most effectively focus instruction to guide student understanding to reach learning outcomes by adding depth and enrichment to instruction. Unwrapping standards brings a clarity and focus to both curriculum and instruction that elevates the level of instruction for “students to exercise and develop their higher-order thinking skills” (Ainsworth, 2015, p. 103). Deconstructing the standards provides a solid framework for utilizing learning activities and instructional methods to engage students. The
