The term “Artificial Intelligence or AI” is no longer an obscure term to us. Being surrounded by smart and intelligent devices in our everyday life has made us aware about this technical jargon called “Artificial Intelligence or AI”, which is used to refer to machine intelligence in the field of Computer Science. As artificial intelligence continues to progress, machines are becoming smarter and more efficient than human beings. So, people are getting more concerned and apprehensive regarding their jobs after witnessing their jobs being replaced by robots and machines. Artificial Intelligence replacing human jobs frequently gets media attention and it has been made a huge deal even though it is not. AI gradually taking all our jobs and destroying the economic system is just an absurd and exaggerated claim made by few media outlets and self-proclaimed tech pundits. On the contrary, AI has potential to help us to get better at our jobs and create more job opportunities in the long run.

Ever since the inception of the computer, science fiction has brought us scenes of super-intelligent computers who want to take over all of mankind. In reality, Artificial Intelligence is still in it’s infancy, and has done much more good for humans than bad. Over time, people’s perspective of AI has changed drastically. We have gone from thinking that AI will take over the world and obliterate mankind to thinking about all the benefits we can get from AI. Society today is greatly influenced by technology and the impact it has had within the past 20 years. One of the largest breakthroughs, though, is Artificial Intelligence (A.I.). The technology associated with A.I. has greatly developed in the past years, and is only making devices smarter. When someone mentions technology, or even the technological breakthroughs the world has gone through recently, many people go straight to smartphones and computers. A.I. is often overlooked, or put into a general category of "technology". Yet, artificial intelligence is something that should we not be so quick to dismiss, and should be something that gets people talking and even excited for what the future holds.

One of the biggest controversies with the advancement of artificial intelligence is the debate on job automation. Many people believe that artificial intelligence will advance to become better than humans and replace humans in most jobs. The opposite belief is that AI will be used to improve the standard of living and will be a tool to support humans, not replace them. Job automation has many benefits such as performing more dangerous jobs and complete tasks that humans do not desire to do. Even though job automation has benefits, there are many people who believe robots will take over the job market and the unemployment rate will skyrocket. There are multiple supporting factors for each side of the job automation debate, but the argument will never be settled until AI is further advanced and utilized.

Artificial intelligence has become a big controversy between scientists within the past few years. Will artificial intelligence improve our communities in ways we humans can’t, or will they just cause danger to us? I believe that artificial intelligence will only bring harm to our communities. There are multiple reasons why artificial intelligence will bring danger to humanity, some of them being: you can’t trust them, they will lead to more unemployment, and they will cause more obesity.

Many people fear that adding AI to industries will mean a decrease in jobs, which it will. Many fields will feel the effect of AI, if not today, in the near future. Assembly lines that once contained humans, now contain robots. Check-out clerks at stores are gradually being replaced with self check-out machines. Bank tellers aren't used as often because of the ease of automated teller machine (ATM) banking. In fact, some banks charge a fee if you use their tellers for transactions that can be made at an ATM. Imagine in the future, say 30 years from today, that many jobs have come to the point where a robot or some other technology could do the exact same thing as a person. It could possibly do their job even better than their human counterpart and more efficient too. At this point, why would an employer choose to hire an actual person over a robot if it saves them money in the long term? If too many jobs become obsolete in the future by autonomous machines, a massive number of people will lose their jobs and could have no other skills to fall back on. Every group of citizen would be affected, from teens just entering the workforce to older ones on the verge of retirement in various organizations throughout the job industry.

Having A.I in the future will make it harder to get jobs. With A.I there will be so many A.I machines replacing humans so a lot of people will lose their jobs. In an article “Is AI the end of jobs, or a new beginning” by Vivek Wadhwa she writes about how the A.I that’s out right now like Amazons Alexa or Apples Siri can do much stuff like order your food, make schedules for you but it’s nothing like a human. A.I will take millions of jobs and according to Wadhwa “We can deny this is happening, be angry or simply ignore it. But if we do, we will be the losers” (The Washington Post). Wadhwa is saying people haven’t accepted that fact the in the future there will be A.I and once they

There is no doubt that robots will be our future. They have already taken jobs of thousands of people and will continue to take jobs with new advancements everyday. The reason robots are taking these jobs is because they are cheaper than paying humans that can make mistakes and fatigue. As I was listening to Harris’ speech, I noticed that a lot of what he had to say matched my latest thoughts about AI. I agree with Harris because I have noticed that when I have a conversation about AI with someone, most people don’t know much about it to gather and create an emotional response to it, and the people that do know some information about AI seem to not really feel threatened by it.
