In Cystic Fibrosis, what are the normal and mutated protein function?

Expert Solution
Step 1

Cystic fibrosis is an autosomal recessive genetic disorder which affects the lungs and also the digestive system including pancreas, intestine, liver and kidneys. It can be a fatal disorder and the affected people generally have a shorter life-expectancy than others. In this disorder, the cells that are responsible for producing digestive juices, mucus and sweat are affected and these body fluids tend to become thick and sticky which hampers the passages and ducts.
