The immune system of invertebrates like Drosophila contains cells known as the hemocytes. They are phagocytic cells found in the hemolymph of these organisms.  In Drosophila, the hemocyte is categorized into two types: larval and embryonic. The hemocyte produced during embryonic stage originate from the mesoderm and move into the hemolymph and circulate through it.
