There are certain ways to account for a country's equitable distribution of wealth. Some of them are as follows:

One can see if the country has progressive taxing system where the people in higher income brackets are taxed at higher rates with a view to collect money from the rich and use it for the betterment of the poor via subsidies, unemployment benefits, medicaid, welfare programs etc.

Another way is to see how well the redistribution is execute via subsidies, unemployment benefits, medicaid, welfare programs etc. One can check if these benefits are really reaching as many poor people as possible or if there is too much red-tapism or corruption in the system.

Another way is to ascertain if government policies and programs are long-term ie to see if there are good education and skilling programs that will ensure fair opportunity to gain employment in future.

Another way is to check if goverment policies are focussed only on income equality or wealth equality. This can be done by checking if it's just the income or also the wealth of the rich getting taxed. It will also help to look at what the estate taxes are like.
