This book, called is about a survival story of young boy, Brian. Before I read this, just looking title on its cover, I've thought it may be about a murder case because hatchet is a kind of an ax. So I was a bit frightened and start this book with anxiety. However, the book was about a young boy whose name is Brian Robeson and he had left alone in Canadian wilderness owing to an accident.

A skill that Brian showed was that he was able to hunt, build things, and use his strength. One talent that he showed was that he was able to hold his breath for a long time. Two personality traits that he showed was that he is very smart and can remember things well. Brian is a 13 year old boy who was trapped in the Canadian wilderness. He used his skills, talents, and personality traits to help him survive.

In the book hatchet there is a main theme, the theme is to symbolize survival in a harsh place. I think this is the main theme because there is significant textual evidence Brian survives for about 54 days. This is also shown when Brian tries and gets the medical kit inside the plane. So basically the Symbolism of this book is to survive. Also, he uses his hatchet in some parts of the book to make and build his fort. How would you react if you were in his situation?
