We all have “learned” abilities and “natural” abilities. Learned abilities are our skills and natural abilities are our talents. So what are Transferable skills or job-related skills? Simply put, transferable skills are the skills and abilities you have acquired during any activity in your life – your jobs, classes, projects, volunteer work, parenting, hobbies, sports, virtually anything – that are applicable to what you want to do in your next job. Learned abilities are skills you develop throughout your life and can apply to a variety of situations. An example would be the ability to coordinate multiple tasks. Employability Skills can be defined as the transferable skills needed by an individual to make them 'employable '. Along with good technical understanding and subject knowledge, employers often outline a set of skills that they want from an employee.
Most of these skills would fall under job experience. The ability to learn quickly was especially important in the military. During technical training the Air Force is trying to push you through as fast as possible to continue feeding the pipeline. If you can’t keep up, you’re recycled into another career field. One that you may not find as rewarding an experience than the job you initially wanted. Positive attitude is a crucial skill to have in working with a team. A negative attitude can really slow down a project if it begins to spread to other members. This is just something you learn when entering the workforce. You begin to learn who to avoid based on their attitudes. I marked work ethic as other experience because I feel like this is something I learned from my father. I remember my father waking up very early every morning to head to work and support his wife and four children. He would even ride a bike to work 11 miles away when his car broke down. I’ll always remember that. The last skills I checked off in this area were dependability/ reliability and flexibility. I grouped these two together because I feel like they sort of fit together. If you’re not very flexible than you can’t really be relied on to step up and take a shift when someone needs you to. Restaurants around the United States are heavily human dependent, and the need for waitresses and waiters are still at a great demand, while several other fields are modernizing. Waitressing is a tenuous and fast pace job. The shifts are long and the money fluctuates depending on the night. Waitresses and waiters can serve at any type of restaurant, however each restaurant is different in regards to side work and other tasks you need to complete. The restaurant business caters to all ages and does not only hire a certain age group.
The skills acquired in the restaurant/service industry are unique and relatable. Considered to be a goal oriented; client-centered; self-starter; who’s hands on management style is instructive and informative. Known to demonstrate extensive experience; knowledge of operations; professionalism and discretion, paired with an increased capacity for, understanding the intrinsic value of people; learning; and communication. Currently focused on economics, with a degree in liberal arts, I aim to make a positive contribution to Per-Se, continue my education, and develop my skills.

Today, Restaurant Managers have many career necessities that need to be met, specific work environments, profitable salaries, long challenging days, and future needs as technology advances.
Currently I am working in An Italian restaurant as a bartender and waiter. My responsibilities involve customer service, attending to customers enquiries and ensuring they receive excellent customer service. The main duties, I was assigned to do, involve mainly taking orders and serving guests. Furthermore, I am required to deal with customer concerns and complaints in an effective way.
A skill is learned ability and capacity to carry out pre-determined steps needed to pursue career in professional objectives with minimum of time and effort. Robbins and Hunsaker (1996) defined ‘skill as a system of behaviour that can be applied in a wide range of situations’. Skills are needed in every area of human endeavour. Individuals need a broad range of skill sets for attaining their career objectives to suit every fast changing technology they need to work with in their respective organizations. Basically there are two types of skills. They are soft skills and hard skills.
