I mean seriously, who do these Al Qaeda guys think they are? First they go blowing up the twin towers, which I stayed in during a high school concert choir trip, and now this…Wanting Americans to convert to Islam, THE NERVE! How rude can these guys get? Instilling fear in every man, child and animal is one thing, but asking me to switch faiths? Shit, you 've crossed a line you really shouldn 't have crossed; you need to step off Al Qaeda. What? You don 't believe me? Well believe this, infidel: "Al-Qaeda has urged non-Muslims - especially in the US - to convert to Islam, according to a new videotape. The call is made by a man identified on the film as "Azzam the American", a convert also known as Adam Gadahn who is wanted for questioning by the FBI. He says ignorance of Islam leads Westerners to accept wars waged by their governments and Israel against Muslim countries. The video opens with an introduction by al-Qaeda number two Ayman al-Zawahiri." -BBC.com Al-Zawahiri has got to be the biggest affront on Middle America 's way of life since Al Bundy, perhaps even more so. And who is this "Azzam the American" character? Isn 't that the name of the genie Shaq played in that stupid movie? It 's all pretty sickening and I, as an American, am pissed off. This is what I am doing right now to "deal" with it, you know, blow off steam. I 've got Lee Greenwood 's "God Bless the USA" (you know the tune… "And I 'm proud to be an American") blasting on the hi-fi, and I 'm sitting at
Terrorism is a massive problem--everybody realizes that. Regardless of origin, culture, country, or political standpoint, every sane person understands that terrorism is something that is still relatively prevalent in the world, and something needs to be done about it. The problem, however, is that there is no easy solution. The United States tends to take overbearing control and responsibility for all terrorist threats, groups, and attacks, but this is simply not reasonable. Although we cannot expect every country to take initiative against terrorist threats like ISIS, sustained international coordination is necessary to effectively confront transnational terrorist groups (Shirkey). This way, the US can begin taking care of themselves and their own country, as they still have many issues that have yet to be solved. While working together is important, though, it is not the key to solving the problem. What we must do in addition is investigate and address the root causes of terrorism, and analyse them in detail in order to best combat terrorist groups at their roots.
On September 11, 2001 Osama Bin Laden, leader of the Al-Qa’ida terrorist group, ordered for 19 of his men to hijack four planes. Their plan was to attack certain points in the United States of America. The attacks were suppose to be on New York’s World Trade Center, the Pentagon and the white house. Many innocent Americans and other nationalities were murdered by the terrorist that day. This day struck many years of conflict for both side with many years of war.
Terror has become a common feeling in today’s world. Music concerts and churches have become targets for terrorist activity. People are now thinking twice about their safety before leave home. In the book Terror In The Mind Of God by Mark Juergensmeyer, he starts off talking about different terror acts and how it has changed how he views the world. He says, "On a different day, at a different time, perhaps in a different bus, one of the bodies torn to shreds by any of these terrorist acts could have been yours or mine" (Juergensmeyer p. 3). He goes on to talk about how he feels betrayed that his "personal security and order that is usually a basic assumption of public life cannot in fact be taken for granted in a world where terrorist acts exit" (Juergensmeyer 3). Terrorism is a huge concern for Americans today. We hear on the news about church shootings and attacks on people attending an outdoor concert. We begin to feel unsafe going out in public and enjoying basic activities.
Bin Laden the biggest terrorist who ever lived! That is what Americans think when they hear the name Bin Laden. But does one even know much about him, such as his family or early life? Probably not they just know that he was behind 9/11. Also, how did he get into terrorism? Did his family raise him to be a terrorist, or did he actually grow up to do something else? Most Americans don’t know much about him. Those people don’t want to know if they were hurt from his destruction. Many families had a hard time such as losing a family member, or a child that grew up not having a parent due to Bin Laden’s doing. Those kids were forever scarred. He has done nothing but terrorize Americans and many other people in other countries. Therefore it is a good thing that he is dead! What were some of the steps used to kill Bin Laden? Also, how was Bin Laden found? Where was he hiding all this time?
“A declaration of Jihad,” on August 23, 1996 deals with Osama bin Laden order to sanction a defensive war (jihad) after he gained refuge in Afghanistan. Osama bin Laden is a well-known terrorist and is the leader and founder of al-Qaeda. In 1979, the origins of al-Qaeda can be traced back to this year because that is when the Soviets invaded Afghanistan. Originally, Osama bin Laden used al-Qaeda as a way to enlist Muslim into the resistance. After, the Soviets left not shortly after the United States came and establish military bases in the homeland of bin Laden in conjecture to the First Gulf Wars. The actions of the United States infuriated bin Laden because the United States intruded to one of Islam’s holiest shrines. In addition, bin Laden isolation from the Saudi ruling family causing him launch a series of bombings directed at the United States embassies, ships, barracks, and then the awful attacks on New York (twin towers) and Washington in 2001. The insert begins with bin Laden shifting the blame to Judeo-Christian alliance and supporters (e.g. the United States). He elaborates by recounting the amount of Muslim blood has spilled across the Middle East and Asia because of their enemies. Bin Laden progresses by saying the reason of the meeting is to find a plan to rectify what has happened to the Islamic world, particularly in Saudi Arabia. The passage details how Americans in Saudi Arabia have unrightfully incarcerated righteous scholars of Islam. It continues with
The other suspected motive that al-Qaeda had for the September 11th attacks was the United States’ continuing presence in Saudi Arabia. In 1991, when the Gulf War ended, the United State’s Department of Defense reserved approximately 5,000 troops to be stationed in territories located in Saudi Arabia. Part of their responsibility was to carry out the military operation, “Operation Southern Watch” ("Operation Southern Watch"). The goal of this military operation was to ensure that the no-fly zones over southern Iraq were enforced. In addition, they made certain that the oil exportation shipping lanes in the Persian Gulf were protected ("Operation Southern Watch").
On September 11, 2001, a man by the name of Osama Bin Laden changed the world using four planes. Crashing one into the pentagon, two into the World Trade Center in New York City, and the never forgotten fourth one that was brought down, by passengers, in a field in Pennsylvania. Because of these four planes people can not do many things the same, for instance people can not get on a plane without going through an hour or two of security. But Thirteen years after the biggest terrorist attack the world had ever seen, the War on Terror remains a vital problem for the U.S Military.
On September 11, 2001 the United States was attacked by terrorist group name Al Qaeda, they hijacked four planes and planned on crashing them into American landmarks. Two of the four planes crashed into the World Trade Center, one plane crashed into the the Pentagon, the last plane did not make it to intended landmark but, instead crashed into a field. The terrorist attack on September 11th could not have necessarily have been prevented but, could not has been as severe. Certain things like lack of government communication, not very thorough background checks on middle eastern immigrants, lack of proper preparation for possible terrorist attacks impacted the severity of the situation.
On September 11, 2001, 19 terrorists who were members of the Islamic terrorist organization named al-Qaeda, hijacked four commercial airplanes and committed suicide attacks against the United States. Two of the planes were ran into the towers of the World Trade Center (Twin Towers) in New York City, a third plane hit the Pentagon just outside of Washington, D.C. The fourth plane crashed into a field in Pennsylvania. The attacks resulted in mass death and destruction, triggering the United States initiatives to fight terrorism and defend our country. Over 3,000 people were killed during the attacks in New York City and Washington, D.C., among these people were more than 400 police officers and 300 firefighters, these heros lost their lives
The relative success against groups like Al-Qaeda is with the power of money and adjusting our nations and other partnering countries financial laws to report “shady transactions that fit a certain criteria. As for Al-Qaeda, the main success we had was the taking down of Osama Bin Laden, which was where a great amount of Al-Qaeda’s money came from (Guiora A., 2008).
A third and final social issue that has been going on since the beginning of the 21st is the war against terror. The “war on terror” has been going on since September. 11, 2001. The campaign of president George W. Bush “declared a worldwide ‘ war on terror ’ "(www.globalpolicy.org,2016). Since then this war has claimed “over 6,000 US soldiers killed in wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Possibly 100 times that number of civilians in those countries (in Iraq, at an early point, there was an estimated range of 400,000 to 900,000 civilian deaths”(Shah, 2013). This has made the war against terror a very difficult thing to deal with. Over 35 countries are a part of this war on terror. Including America, Afghanistan, Iraq, and Egypt.
In October 31st, 2015, a Russian airplane crashed in the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt, killing all 200 people on board. In November 13, 2015, three teams of terrorists assaulted throughout Paris, killing at least 132 people. A terrorist organization called ISIS has claimed responsibility for these terror attacks. In the beginning, ISIS has always been considered as another form of Al-Qaeda, thus we used the same strategies that we used to against Al-Qaeda while we are dealing with ISIS. It was not until recent years, ISIS has launched a number of terrorist attacks around the world and has posted many brutal videos of beheading captives that people began to realize this terrorist organization are much dangerous and extreme than Al-Qaeda. People
War and conflict have raged in Southeast and Central Asia for centuries due to civil unrest and political instability. The rise of the Taliban and other militant insurgencies have escalated the dangers and unpredictability of an already unstable government in Afghanistan. The agenda of these jihadist extremists is the takeover of the Afghan and Pakistan governments in favor of the more stringent Islamic ways of the Taliban, and the destruction of anyone who opposes them. These groups, professing to do the work of God, are perpetrating a coarse and distorted interpretation of Islam and the Quran. Violent acts that have been committed by insurgents, include crimes against humanity, acts of terrorism, murder, suicide bombings, and
Have you ever had a fear for your family, your town, your country, or your world. How about the fear to have everything taken from you, destroyed, and not caring if it has hurt you or not? What about your fear and pain is, and can be someone else’s happiness? The fear of you being terrorized? That is terrorism. Someone else bringing fear and terrorizing you. That is a terrorist’s goal. Terrorism is common and is very difficult to stop. The government promises protection for the people, and their home, but they can not give that protection if they can not stop terrorism. Terrorism needs to stop to protect the live of the people, and their country.
Terrorism happens every day in modern life and we are oblivious to it. Day cares have children bullying others. Beating up families to prove to their rivals they mean business is just one of the100 plus definitions of terrorism. There are many types of terrorism and each one is different butone thing is certain, terrorism is a threat to global society. Terror comes from a Latin term, terrere meaning "to frighten" and this was use was used by the Romans to describe the "terror" of the barbarian tribes in 105 B.C, from then on people have been using terrorism as a use to gaintheir true goals at the expense of the general public or their victims. Terrorism should beinternationally agreed as a crime regardless if it
