The Great Gatsby is a story told by Nick Carraway, who was once the neighbor of Gatsby. The story begins when Nick moves from the Midwest to the West Egg, Long Island, pursuing his career as a bond salesman. Soon after his arrival, Nick travels across town to the more wealthier side of town East Egg to visit with his cousin Daisy Buchanan and her abusive, arrogant husband Tom who Nick has known from college. When Nick returns home later on that evening, he notices his neighbor Gatsby, standing in the dark starring at a green dock light across the Sound. One day, Nick is invited to join Tom to meet Myrtle, the woman that Tom has been having affairs with behind Daisy's back. One night Nick decides to attend one of these phenomenal parties. There he bumps into the one and only Gatsby. From the information that Nick has gathered about Gatsby, he turns out to be a lovely and gracious host. As the summer comes to an end, Gatsby and Nick start to become friends. One day Nick and Gatsby journey into the city to have tea. It was then when Nick learns Gatsby’s amazing story about his strong love for Daisy Buchanan. They met years ago when he was in the army, but they couldn’t be together because he wouldn’t always be their for Daisy. Nick learned that years after the war Gatsby fought in his mission was to win Daisy back. He bought his house so that he would be across the Sound from where Daisy lives so she would see his parties in hopes that maybe she will notice and come over. After all these years Gatsby thinks he is ready to meet with her. So Gatsby comes up with idea to get Nick to invite Daisy over to his little house where Gatsby will show up out of the blue. The day of the meeting the long lost lovers meet again. At first the their reunion was full of nervousness, but shortly, the two are once again comfortable with each other. By this point Tom starts to pick up on whats going on. Tom, Nick, and Jordan drive in Gatsby’s car, While Gatsby and Daisy drive Tom's coupe. While they re all head to the city to Tom's apartment Tom stops for gas in Gatsby’s car at Wilson’s gas station where he shes that Wilson’s extremely upset with Myrtle because like Tom, who has learned about the affair between Daisy and Gatsby, Wilson finds out that Myrtle is sleeping with another man, but he doesn’t know who. After a long and aggressive discussion at the Plaza Hotel in the city about Daisy and who she really loves Tom has had enough of it and orders Gatsby and Daisy to take Gatsby’s car back home. Tom and Nick follow. Tom notices something wrong at Wilsons garage, the closer they approach the garage the see that some sort of accident took place. Pulling over to see what happened , they come to find out that Myrtle Wilson, Toms mistress was hit and killed by a passing car that never thought to stop, people suspected that it was Gatsby’s car. Later that night after the accident Nick meets up with Gatsby outside of her house where Gatsby was keeping watch. With a couple of questions asked by Nick, he finds out that Daisy, not Gatsby was driving the car, even though Gatsby took all the blame for the accident. Early the next morning Nick goes over to Gatsbys house to say his last goodbyes before leaving
