The first weeks were going to be hard for Alfred. He was sore and tired. “It’s not easy trying to become a contender. It’s never any fun in the beginning. It’s hard work, you’ll want to quit at least once every day. If you quit before you really try, that’s worse than never starting at all. And nothing’s promised you, nothing’s ever promised you ”(pg.36). This quote from the novel shows that Alfred was sore the first week of his training, but knew that he must deal with it to work hard. Alfred continues to work hard and dedicate himself as much as he can. Even though times could be difficult for him. In the song Rise Up by Andra Day, the message is to just keep working hard and don’t give up on yourself. The song's message is similar to Alfred's training because he is working hard to be his best. ”Your broken down and tired of living life on a merry go round and you can’t find the fighter, but I see it in you so we gonna walk it out”. The message from this quote shows that even though you're tired you have to keep pushing yourself no matter how hard things
Later on that page Alfred admits he wants to “Be somebody” and Donatelli tells him all the things he needs to do to be somebody. Donatelli also creates theme by saying, “‘If... if I had wanted to, would I have... you know, been a contender?’
I believe Connie was murdered and raped by Arnold. I wish that was the case that he dropped her off at the hospital or even back at home with her family. Like you stated, I highly doubt he had a change of heart. She was a misguided teen who wanted to be more mature than she actually was. A sad story that left us all guessing what happened to her. The kid defiantly had a lot of mental issues.
Dakota Winter knew if she didn’t get this man to open up about Brandon Harper’s current whereabouts, her sister, Sunday would definitely never forgive her for the attack.
The question on why was T. Hall got singled out for scrutiny is not a simple one in my eyes. T. Hall may have been singled out for a number of reasons. The first being because T. Hall was crossing dressing thus causing confusing within the community. The second being T. Hall born as a hermaphrodite (or intersexed) and saw herself/himself as both a man and a woman which put him/her under more scrutiny, although this only came into light after she/he was under scrutiny . One of Last thing I understood being reading the information is because she/he would take on the roles of both a male and female at different points throughout life. This caused T. Hall’s neighbors to have a trail to try to help them with the indentation of T. Hall’s role/place

2016 is lacking in many various qualities but if there's anything we need more right now, it's a voice for intellectual music. While Hollywood keeps busy rebooting classic 80's films, the music industry is doing the same with classic genres. It's rare to find fresh, young talent that's not a carbon copy of their influence. While it's not bad per say, it certainly lacks originality. Out of this bland repetition, comes a new hope. Oklahoma singer JD McPherson hopes to give old rock a new soul.

Donatelli took care of Alfred, but didn't stop him when he wanted to prove to himself that he wasn't a quitter and a true contender. This meant Donatelli knew Alfred's limits, but didn't stop him from fighting more competitive opponents. Donatelli said “ ‘It’s time, Alfred.’ ‘You want me to quit?’ ‘To retire.’
He had been a hard worker even in Jones’s time, but now he seemed more like three horses than one;there were days when the entire work of the farm seemed to rest on his mighty shoulders. From morning to night he was pushing and pulling, always at the spot where the work was hardest. He had made an arrangement with one of the cockerels to call him in the morning half an hour earlier than anyone else, and would put in some volunteer labour at whatever seemed to be most needed, before the regular day’s work began. His answer to every problem, every setback, was “I will work harder”-- which he had adopted as his personal motto.” (46-47) Boxer continues to work harder and harder despite Mr. Jones is gone.
A Friday night party at the neighborhood street gang's hangout, a basement clubroom. Allowing the gang's leader, Major, to influence him, Alfred spends the night drinking and smoking marijuana. Sunday morning, he accompanies the gang to Coney Island in a stolen car and spends most of the day running, alone, from the police. He decides to quit training. While cleaning out his locker at the gym two nights later, Alfred experiences a moment of self-awareness.
It was a warm day in California when it happened. Everyone was waking up and preparing for a day of work, or in some kid’s case a nice day to relax and enjoy the summer. But that wasn’t the case; instead, when people turned on their TV they were bombarded with news of Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman’s death. The news of the murders spread quickly, soon everyone across the country knew of what happened, and everyone was wondering “who would viciously kill two innocent people?” Even in the Missouri, people were waking up to the news of the murders. “It was like the crime was the only thing on the TV that day” said Chuck. Little did anyone know how this story would end?
The debate on whether or not women can compete with men in sports has been a long-standing argument with many different viewpoints. Feminists say that women should be able to compete with the opposite gender because “girls can do anything boys can do” and they believe it to be sexist to not allow that to happen. This is not the case; women cannot compete with men because of physical differences that make men more athletically inclined. Sexism is not a factor when asking the question of whether or not women can play with the men. These attributes that hinder women will be explained as well as giving real-life examples of women competing with men.
It is frequently said that the time it takes traveling back home is shorter than the time it took getting there. The Protagonist is having an incredibly difficult time finding his way back to Midgard from Valhalla. Maybe that is because he never considered it a home. Or possibly his home was not a place, but the people he loves.
Craig also describes how the effect of Bacon’s colour and its dynamic variability invokes “a violence that is involved only with colour and line: the violence of sensation”. Craig argues that art can resonate with the primal sensitivity of bodies, affecting one in ways that cannot be pre-determined or prepared for. In doing so, she proposes that art reactivates the sensitive core of the body (its synaesthetic substrate), provoking new feelings and engendering deeper thresholds of vulnerability. In relation to colour and our perception of it, the practical application that Deleuze proposes is that our bodies are intimately receptive to the force of colour, particularly to colours destabilising effect of coherent temporality.
