Abortion is one most divisive issues facing our country today. One of the main devastating causes that result in abortion is rape. Not only is rape a prime leading factor to having an abortion, but also numerous reasons such as negative impact on the mother’s life, financial instability, relationship problems, unwillingness to be a single mother and medical reasons such as diseases, medical disorders and stillbirth. Many people believe it is immoral and even consider it to be murder. The issue here is the pro-life supporters forget to understand the definition of abortion; “The termination of pregnancy by the removal or expulsion from the uterus of a fetus or embryo prior to being capable of normal growth.” Pro-life believers do not support the idea of induced abortion and believe it should be illegal. As a matter of fact, if abortion were to be outlawed it would still be performed, unfortunately by an untrained or even uneducated staff. Pro-choice believers support the idea women should have the choice to do what she pleases with her own body. As an example; a woman that is raped by a man and becomes pregnant with his child she can decide that she doesn’t want to bear with the child of her rapist because it is too painful for her to cope with. Pro-choice supports take sympathies to these victims while on the other hand, these women get called murderers by pro-life supporters. Pro-life support the idea that every child has a right to live, even if the mother is financially
Pro-Life believe that women should not have the right to have abortions while Pro-Choice believe that women who become pregnant should have the choice to have an abortion. When a survey is done asking Americans if abortions should be legal, illegal, or legal under certain circumstances most people said legal under certain circumstance. “There are variations within each group depending on how liberal or conservative one’s opinions are; some individuals who are pro-life believe that in cases of rape or incest abortion should be allowed, and some pro-choice groups favor waiting periods and other restrictions on abortion” (Arguments for and Against Abortions). Pro-Choice believe that the “fetus is a human being from the moment of conception; this means abortion is murder, which is immoral and should be illegal. While Pro-Life believe that“The fetus is not yet a human being because it cannot survive outside the uterus on its own” (Arguments for and Against
Pro-life is when you believe that the baby is still innocent of the crime. The government has an obligation to preserve all human life but many pro-choice people would argue that the government has no business interfering in the citizens lives and telling them what they can and can’t do. It is an invasion of their rights that they were born with. “In 1960, Planned Parenthood reported that 84% to 87% had illegal abortions it was performed by a licensed physicians. In 1972, the year before Roe vs Wade, 39 women died from illegal abortions. Each of those deaths was a tragedy, but every abortion is a tragedy, because it kills a living human being.” (Pro Life vs Pro-Choice Facts and Arguments) Stephen Adams, Medical Correspondent published in the
Many differences of opinion arise in regards to abortion, including the obvious “pro-life or pro-choice” question many people have defiant answers to. Abortion is a topic that most every person has a very strong, firm stance on, resulting in a worldwide debate of the matter. Differences of opinion persist within both movements. “Some pro-life activists may condone abortions in cases of rape or incest, while others take an uncompromising stance, believing that all abortion is murder” (“Abortion”). Most pro-life thinkers state that it is inhumane and immoral to abort a fetus under any circumstance, yet it is very important that the woman has the right to make her own decision based on her situation. If a woman needs to have an abortion, she
They believe in the mother’s freedom to choose what she does with her body. Pro Choice believe that every child should be born and know that they are wanted and loved. They think that children that have been planned for, live better lives. Their parents are ready to support the baby in every way possible. Second, they think that a fetus is not considered a human being. They consider anything that is self-sustaining as a human being, whereas the fetus is completely dependent on the
Pro-life advocates believe that a fetus is considered a human being from the moment it is conceived. They believe if one was to have an abortion, it would be considered murder, which is immoral. They believe that if the pregnancy is the result of a woman being careless about her actions, she should have to deal with the consequences, since it’s her responsibility to take the necessary precautions to prevent from getting pregnant. They are against it because they believe if abortions are “accepted” by society and easy to get, people will abuse this as a regular form of birth control. Many of the advocates are people who do not agree with abortions because it is against their religion. Conceived children are considered children of God and
Both pro-life and pro-choice activists refer to religion to back up their point of view. Pro-life supporters claim that human life begins at conception. Therefore, abortion is a murder of a person. Conversely, pro-choice activists say that personhood at conception is not a
Abortion is a tough topic in which you can only decide to be either for or against it. There is a huge amount of people who believe that abortion should be legal and that everyone should respect that decision; however, there is also people who are against this ideology and believe that abortion is something immoral and should be illegal. People, who is pro-abortion, prefer to say that they are pro-choice. They like better this term because they say that they aren’t fighting for abortions, instead, they are supporting woman’s right. This means that they are pro-choice to fight for equality in woman’s rights and not because they like to abort. The same happens with people that are against abortions, many people prefer to be pro-life. A pro-life person is someone who favors life and is against abortion an any other methods of killing people.
Abortion is the purposeful termination of a fetus, either naturally or medically (Abortion 2). In this instance, an unborn fetus perishes either through natural causes such as a miscarriage, or by medically induced methods (McFall 188). Medically induced methods are the most controversial of the two because a mother cannot control the natural circumstances of abortion, but medically induced methods are controllable and mothers hold full responsibility for ending their unborn child’s life. The question in examination is, why is abortion legal if a fetus is being denied a life? Supporters believe abortion is the right of a woman; however, abortion dismisses the fetus a well-deserved life that every human being occupies the right to (Pros 3). Pro-life supporters view medicinal induced abortions as a form of murder because a well-deserved life is being denied (Three Reasons 2). Abortions performed by medically induced methods should be prohibited because abortion is a form of murder, it violates religious beliefs, and children should not be permitted to receive punishment for the rape of their mother.
Pro-life advocates argue that abortion is murder “Abortion ends a pregnancy by destroying and removing the developing child. That baby’s heart has already begun to beat by the time the mother misses her period and begins to wonder if she might be pregnant (about 31 days after the mother’s last menstrual period or LMP).” (nrlc.org) Pro-life activists make the cunning argument that abortion is equivalent to murder, and murder is not ethical. Therefore, abortion is unethical. These activists claim that abortion promotes promiscuity and therefore call for no toleration of abortion under any circumstances. Pro-life activists find that the majority of women having abortions are not victims of incest or rape. They are having abortions for purely social reasons because of unwanted pregnancies. Approximately 93 percent of women listed “social reasons” as means for getting an abortion not rape, incest, or health reasons. Abortion is wrong for many reasons, but above all, the main reason is murder. With the media’s involvement on this issue, abortion has become one of the most widely talked about and controversial issues in the United
Pro-choice believers support the right to privacy and the idea women should have the choice to do what she pleases with her own body. As an example; a woman is raped by a man and becomes pregnant with his child. She decides she doesn’t want to keep the baby; she has an abortion because the idea of raising a child of her rapist is too painful for her to cope with. Pro-choice defenders take sympathies to this woman while she then gets called a murderer by pro-life supporters. Abortions sometimes results in the woman being harassed because of the choice she has made about her own body. That’s what pro-life supports. Often time’s situations like this turns into harassment which can be considered to be part of anti-abortion violence1. These pro-life supporters stalk, threaten, and even sometimes kill women who have chosen to have an abortion and even the doctors that provide the procedures. Pro-life also supports the idea that every child has a right to live, even if the mother is not financially able to support the child and the child would struggle everyday along with their mother. These children would be underprivileged and could potentially die from the circumstances they’ve be forced to live in. Again this is what people that are considered to be “pro-life” defend.
As we all know abortion is one of the many topics everybody has an opinion. It is an unhappy topic to talk about and it’s more commonly known to make people furious, but it is an issue that is most likely to be discussed. As mentioned, people discuss abortion because everyone always has a say to it. There are people who are against it and there are people who support it. These groups are known as the pro-life and pro-choice organizations. Now what is an abortion? An abortion is the termination of pregnancy. It may sound so bad but there are many reasons on why some women do it. Pro-life supporters believe it’s immoral and inhumane because of the
Abortion is a highly controversial topic around the globe, mostly because of the moral issues it brings forward based on people’s philosophies and religion. A significant part of the population, called pro-life, consider abortion as murdering a living child and hence, are against abortion. Another group of people, called pro-choice, believe that the parents, particularly women, have the choice to do anything with their body and have the right to decide whether or not to keep the child. They may not necessarily be against abortion, but they believe that abortion is an equally morally right option for women.
Abortion is a dreadful matter that some women must face in their lifetime for multiple reasons. There is a great deal of controversy over this topic some say abortion is the killing of the unborn child known as the pro-life supporters, they do not agree with abortion being legal. The other side of this argument is the pro-choice supporters who do not believe that abortion is killing the unborn child, they believe it is the woman’s choice to do what she wants with her body and her future. It is the right of the woman to decide what to do when it comes to that situation because it is her body and her life. Some women have abortions because they were raped, or they know that they cannot take care of the unborn child. The pro-life supporters do
Abortion is seen by some as the murder of a human being, an action that defies the word of God; others believe that abortion is a women’s fundamental right and any law that is against it is a violation of a woman's privacy and their free will. Those who are for abortion call themselves “Pro-choice” while those who are against it call themselves “Pro-Life” or “Anti-Abortion”. With all this in mind, it is easy to see why abortion is such a controversial topic, and everyone's stance on it is different due to the morality, legality, and factors that affect someone individually will play a role on deciding where you stand. Because finding the falsehoods and truth within each is how people should tackle the subject to then decide for themselves.
Abortions are becoming a pervasive issue taking place in many countries. Women subjecting themselves to an abortion are deliberately terminating their pregnancy. Taking such a choice is an intimate decision women are willing to take in order to avoid several complications that they will encounter in the future. Societies have developed opposing elaborate determined views regarding the controversial issue of abortion. While many people known as “Pro-Life” believe that abortions should not be allowed under any circumstance, other individuals know as “Pro-Choice” believe that abortions should be allowed and legalized. Abortions are unethical and should be banned in society due to the fact that abortions kill innocent lives and cause health drawbacks to women who have undergone this operation.
