As a senior at Summit-Academy North high school, I am required to participate in a job shadow with a professional in the line of work that I am interested in pursuing. On April 13th, I visited Flat Rock Physicians and completed my job shadow experience with one of the doctors that worked there, her name was Dr.Fretz. I was the only student shadowing her that say. While I was there I observed her as she completed her tasks as a family doctor. The reason why I chose to shadow Dr.Fretz is because I plan on going into a career in the medical field and I want to do something that'll give me the chance to help people when they need it and this type of career will give me that opportunity.

At this point in my education, I have yet to decide which field of medicine I want to study however, pediatrics has always sparked an interest within me. By shadowing you, I would be able experience the daily life of a Pediatrician in a real-life setting, allowing me to determine whether pediatrics is something that truly interests me as a potential field of study.

Social anxiety is “a feeling of discomfort, fear, or worry that is centered on our interactions with other people and involves a concern with being judged negatively, evaluated, or looked down upon by others” (Social Anxiety Support, 2014). Social anxiety can affect anyone. Individuals with social anxiety tend to prefer to keep to themselves because they are afraid others will judge them negatively and have a hard time interacting socially.

Social anxiety disorder, also called social phobia, is a disorder in which a person has an excessive and unreasonable fear of social situations. Social Anxiety causes intense nervousness and self-consciousness arises from a fear of being closely watched, judged, and criticized by others.
