Introduction As human beings, we all have our own values, beliefs, and attitudes. These things develop over the course of our lifetime and at any point can change based on an experience that we may have. Our family, friends, community and the experiences we have had all contribute to our sense of who we are and how we view the world. Values, Beliefs, and a Little About Me Over the course of my life my values have changed based on circumstance. Currently if I had to list out my top five values in descending order they would be: religion, family, education, country, and culture. I value religion first and foremost because of my beliefs system that has been instilled in me since I was a child. " If you place God first in your life, then everything else will work itself out", is something my Grandfather has always told me. Family is something that doesn 't necessarily come first, but is a very high value to me. I identify as being a very caring father and husband, the protector, and head of my household. My family has always been supportive of my decisions. They have influenced me to always give my best at everything and to persevere when I fail. Education is the new value that has began to take a precedence in my life. Education is the bridge to success that I am striving to succeed at. Without education I cannot properly attend to my family 's needs. The time demand of education also puts it very high on my values list because it warrants the majority of my attention.
Our ideas, ethics, and perceptions of what is important mold our values. “Values come about through a combination of experiences and learning: exposure to situations and information, and interpretation of those experiences. Interaction and socialization, which help to form common values, also play important roles.” (Hollinger, 2010). Personally, my values dramatically changed after my complete surrender to Jesus Christ. This transformation established my values on the firm Christian foundation. “For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.” (I Corinthians 3:11). Let’s explore my fundamental
Each individual is created to live their life uniquely. Each person has their own beliefs and opinions. They shape how one perceives others and how one affects others whether it be personally, locally, or globally.
My personal and professional values play an important part in my life. I use these values in my everyday life either it is at home or at work. My values are what define my goals and purpose in life, allowing me to decide right from wrong. Having personal and professional values defines what my character and help me to achieve is a Mental Health Counselor and be successful. I have chosen five personal values that. Trustworthy is an important personal value to me it is not only being able to follow through on plans, keeping information that is told to you in private, but it is when you keep your word and following through with it. Also, being trustworthy you must honestly let the other person know where you stand and how you are feeling. Intelligence as a personal value doesn’t only mean being able to acquire skills and obtaining knowledge to the highest degree it can also mean being able to understand other people’s emotional state and feelings, in the social situation being able to adapt to my surroundings and being able to help people. Fairness and Equity are a personal value I hold dear to me hear no matter the race, culture, or social background it is about treating people fairly. I don’t let my feeling and bias get in the way when I am getting to know someone and making decisions without getting to know them I give everyone the same opportunities. Having spirituality in my life shapes me into the person It makes me think twice about my actions, it also gives me a purpose in life and an understanding of the fundamental basics of the universe and someone higher than me gives me purpose in life. It also gives me instructions and guidance on how to treat other human beings. Passion is a quality I think everyone should want at a value it is not settling for doing something you dread when you are passionate about something you put all your efforts into it and you want to achieve excellences. When you are passionate about something you feel more energized and more motivated when you are doing something you enjoy. When you are feeling happy and passionate you feel you want to accomplish more you want to be beyond proficient and strive to best and it will show. I live by six professional values it is the
Personal values, beliefs, and principles are important for individuals to know about themselves. However, when asked the question, “what are your personal values, beliefs, and principles?” The first response is often a laundry list of characteristics with the assumption that those three words are synonymous. From my experience when posed this question the laundry list became long and in retrospect, I began to wonder what the differences were between each of these terms. As a teacher, employee, mother, and Christian knowing these differences and how to answer the question is an important component of determining how I make decisions when faced with ethical dilemmas. Hence, began the investigation of how the terms relate, their meaning and what my answer is to this question. Since my laundry list was quite long for this essay, I will share and explain the top two elements for each category, how they relate to one another and how the knowledge influences tough decisions.
Values relate to our personal principles, morals, and ideals—that is, what we consider to be important. Each person is unique, with their own personal values and beliefs shaped by a number of factors that include culture, religion, and personal experiences. We value each person as an individual, respect their aspirations and commitments in life, and seek to understand their priorities, needs, abilities and limits.
We all have our own beliefs, values and preferences as we are not all the same. How and what we do with these along with what we as individuals think and find acceptable which play an important part of who we really are.
The 10 most important values that guide my life in general are: Accountability, Adaptability, Ambition, Commitment, Continuous learning, Excellence, Fairness, Friendships, Integrity and Personal growth.
As human beings, we all have our own values, beliefs and attitudes that we have developed throughout the course of our lives. Our family, friends, community and the experiences we have had all contribute to our sense of who we are and how we view the world. As community services workers, we are often working with people who are vulnerable and/or who may live a lifestyle that mainstream society views as being different or unacceptable. If, as community services workers, we are to provide a service that meets the needs of our target groups and helps them to feel empowered, we need to be aware of our own personal values, beliefs and attitudes and be prepared to adopt the professional values of our
De bono (1933) quoted ?Effectiveness without values is a tool without a purpose?. Came to my mind when I first read Professionalism in Physical Therapy: Core Values published by American Physical Therapy Association. I believe that core values play a major role in determining one?s standing in the society, either as an Individual or an Organization. APTA (2003) stated that in 2002 eighteen physical therapists based on their expertise in physical therapy practice, education and research were invited by APTA?s Education Division to participate in a consensus based conference to develop consensus based document on professionalism that include Core values of the profession and its indicators that are fully consistent with core values and professional education matrix that includes educational outcomes, examples of terminal behavioral objectives, and examples of instructional objectives for classroom and clinical practice.
One major value to me is work ethic. Work is what has been driving my whole life down to helping me through high school. I’d rather be working hard long days than be sitting at home doing nothing. It helps me get up and learn new things each and every day. It’s taught myself the daily course of a day.
Values are intangible things that are important to us, and that guide us, individually, to make decisions. Each person has a different set of values, morals, and ethics, which is the reason that each person handles a situation differently. Here, I will discuss my top 5 values, and why they are important to me.
This paper focuses on my beliefs, values, values, prejudices and how they were shaped throughout my lifetime. I explained each subtopic in paragraph forms ways in which my differences were developed, either by my parents or my peer groups. While writing this paper, I got a chance to express my thoughts about how I feel about things and how it all started.
Everyone has different values in life that work for them. When I think of the values that were held in the past, I think of the “Love Comes Softly” series by Janette Oke that was made also into a movie. The series is based on values of Christ, family, love, respect, and honesty. I would have to say that these would be the values I live by on a daily basis. Each value plays a different role in life you can have one without the other, but when put together I feel it is a powerful combination.
The beliefs and values which I possess are important for me because they shape my lifestyle in a proper way. As for me, I identify three significant values which are family, friendship and success. I was raised in a good family and my parents always supported me, taught me life lessons and
The experiences that we have acquired thought out our lives will determine what we believe to be, and to distinguish right from wrong. Based on these beliefs we establish unique core values, and we use these values to influence how others perceive us. We are all driven by our core values; they give purpose to our lives and a reason to outperform ourselves and motivate others to do the same.
