As I sought out to become a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. I saw that the organization matches my personality and what I stand for. My true passion is to make a difference in this world, I desire to make a significant impact on the lives of the youths to inspire them to reach their full potential. I know that Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity was established to accomplish the same things that I do, this is one of the many reasons I aspire to join this great fraternity. After becoming a member of the Mu Alpha Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha, I was elected to be chapter president that is relatively bold move for the chapter and seemingly unheard of for a chapter to put someone with less fraternity experience at the head. There was an immense …show more content…
The difficulty came mostly in time management and motivating the chapter. In a chapter of 5, it is difficult finding the time to run a chapter effectively so that it accomplishes all that is required of them and more. Usually, one of two things would happen: the chapter drops in GPA making the chapter inactive, or the chapter does not do all that is required of them. Fortunately, neither happened to my chapter and that was due to a motived team and effective delegations and time management. It was hard being a new president and finding out things as they came. And there were many things that were required of my chapter to remain in good standards. So taking a those required tasks and the hopes of the chapter and properly delegating tasks as well as working to have a strict time schedule help alleviate some of the stress on the chapter. Unfortunately, a bulk of the work started to fall on the shoulders of a few brothers more than the others and with a chapter this small it really does not help. So I was my job to take on bulk of the issues while working with the brothers to help motivate and get everyone to share the load again. And with all of that taken care of and put into action, the Mu Alpha Chapter was able to re-establish a strong
My purpose for applying to Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated is to honor God by serving the Black community with my time, gifts and treasures in partnership with educated Men of character. I humbly accept my call to serve and desire to do so through Omega. I have gratefully been the recipient of several Omega Men’s love which has positively influenced my life. Likewise, I desire to give myself for others. I realize that all promotions come from God and therefore I have no perceived notions about how the fraternity can assist me with achieving my career goals because I trust that the principle of ‘reaping and sowing’ will naturally come to pass as I share in service alongside of Omega. More importantly, I desire the development of manhood
It is an honor to be chosen as a candidate for membership in the National Honor Society. Academics, leadership skills, service abilities, and character are four principal parts of a superior student. I believe that I am inclusive of all these aspects needed to become a part of this prestigious group. Becoming a member of this organization is important to me, because it will help me get into an excellent college and push me to work harder in school.
As a freshman at the University of Maryland, I am pursuing a Masters degree in Computer Science with a specialization in Cyber Security. I formerly attended the Academy of Health Sciences at Prince George’s Community College, a dual enrollment program in which I graduated with my High school diploma and an Associates of Arts degree in General Studies. Having a unique experience by attending these different school has allowed me to become familiar with technical communication in a multitude of ways, whether it is in the work place or school related. Being vice president of the national honor society, being a barista at Peet’s coffee shop, and with being fluent in multiple languages I have used technical communication to encourage people to “take action” in a multitude of ways. Whether it was influencing people to join the national honors society or trying to get customers to buy a new coffee drink, I have consistently been able to encourage others to “take action” with whatever it may be. Over time I have learned the do’s and don’ts of being a technical communicator, and I now understand what must be done to accomplish a task through technical communication.
I am a senior graduating in spring 2016. I am interested in joining the Alpha Phi Sigma Honor Society. I meet every requirement except the cumulative GPA. At this time my cumulative GPA is a 3.17 nevertheless, I have a GPA of a 3.75 in my criminal justice course. In spring 2015, I was double majoring in Chemistry and Criminal Justice. I am interested in becoming a forensic scientist. When my workload started to get overwhelming I dropped chemistry just to focus on criminal justice. I want to know is it possible I can still join Alpha Phi Sigma Honor Society.
First off, I am honored to be considered for membership into National Honor Society. It has been one of my many goals throughout my high school career to become a member. I believe I fit all the criteria for what it takes to be part of a great organization. I take great pride in my academics, as well as my character. In my eyes, character is the most important aspect to be a leader. I believe I fill that role well.
I am genuinely honored to be one of the few students considered for acceptance to the State College Area High School chapter of the National Honor Society. I feel that my hard work and dedication in academics is beginning to show through. Throughout my life, I have shown drive and devotion for everything in which I have been involved, ranging from athletics to academics. My mentality has always been focused on helping others. For this reason, I aspire to become an orthopedic surgeon so that my career will evolve around helping others to get the most out of their lives. My summer will be spent volunteering at Phoenix Rehab for fourteen hours each week as it will allow me to begin providing care to the community. Currently holding an unweighted
National Honor Society and National Technical Honor Society alike have provided the best opportunities for personal growth for a few reasons. As members, we sacrifice our time for the betterment of others. It is rewarding to help those in need without seeking credit. National Honor Society allowed me to reach out to those very close and dear to me in the community, while National Technical Honor Society helped me reach out to communities outside of Dansville, that I would have never had the opportunity to help otherwise. Both chapters were very influential in developing maturity, accountability, and selflessness. Additionally, being the Treasurer of National Honor Society has given me the opportunity to take on a leadership role. Stepping
I am pleased and honored to have the opportunity to forego with the process of becoming a National Honor Society member. The National Honor Society’s main goal is be involved and to better the community in various ways. For example, the organization works to serve the community, tutor students, and be leaders within the school. The members put their self interests aside and work to better the lives of everyday people in their community. I believe I am ready to join and help with the endless opportunities that the National Honor Society has to offer. Becoming a member of NHS has been a goal of mine since I entered the halls of Brick Township High School. I fully understand that it takes hard work and dedication in order to become a member but I know that I greatly exhibit those traits not only in school but also in my outside activities. This is a rare opportunity that can only happen in high school and I know that I am ready to be apart of something special.
My partner and I grew up around many sororities, but Alpha Kappa Alpha Inc. has always caught our eye. When our teacher explained our topic that could be an interest to us, my partner and I decided on Alpha Kappa Alpha Inc. The sorority A.K.A means a significance in our community. It was the first African American women's sorority dedicated to serve the people and others in need. We knew that we would dedicate our time in making the project a success.
My most meaningful accomplishment is finding my inner leader and learning to believe in myself. For many years I was extremely shy and I let this deter me from enjoying activities outside my comfort zone. Growing up I never really believed enough in myself to find my leadership abilities. It was not until early in my college career that I began to truly see my potential. My freshman year of college I began to open myself up to the possibilities around me by joining clubs on campus and making connections with those around me. The one organization that truly changed my outlook forever was Phi Beta Chi National Sorority. Within my sisterhood I began to open up and see myself as the leader I knew I could be. Once I had this new found outlook I
The reason I would love to participate and actually be a contillionette of the Suffolk Alumnae Chapter, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, and Incorporation is because I think this would be a wonderful experience to take part in. I’ve been in two previous events of the same nature so it’s not like I don’t have any experience at all. Another reason is that I actually enjoyed my past experience and actually learned a lot. I wasn’t just there to get and take. I was very happy to be there and to receive and give anything that I could. I most definitely feel like this will be the same. I’m excited that I would come to enjoy my time in this organization, the experience that will be gained, and the knowledge that will be shared, and hopefully I’ll meet new
As I entered the Alpha’s Probate I heard the uproar from the supporters of the newly inducted young men. They chanted throughout the night and were so happy to be “Ice cold brothers”, although it meant so much more to them. It meant they would be a part of a brotherhood, forever. I plan to debunk the stereotype and gain a new perspective on fraternities, and more specifically ULM’s Eta Chi chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Inc.
Here at the University of Colorado Boulder I am apart of the Chi Omega sorority, where I dedicate a substantial amount of my time to being on our chapters executive board. The Chi Omega sorority is one of nine sororities at our university and nationally is the largest women 's fraternal organization in the world with over 330,000 initiates and 179 collegiate chapters. Our chapter, the Zeta chapter, has about 250 college women currently and growing. With that being said, with a chapter as large as ours, it takes a lot of power and control to maintain it’s values and positive name in the community. Nearing the end of each Fall semester the entire chapter goes through a voting process to choose a new executive board. The process is long and
Pursuing the dream of obtaining membership into the First Intercollegiate Greek Fraternity for African Americans, Alpha Phi Alpha, Inc. is one of very few ultimate goals in my life. An organization that was founded to stimulate the ambitions of its members and prepare them for great usefulness within the community has since become one of the most well respected organizations in America. Over one hundred years later, the pivotal movement in 1906 has spread to over the entire country in different collegiate chapters and cities across America and the impact has been tremendous. Alpha Phi Alpha, Inc. was vaguely introduced to me as a child but it did not take effect until I started school at Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
I am currently a member of the Psi Chi Honor Society, an international psychology honor society, and recently joined FIU’s chapter of the co-ed premedical fraternity, Phi Delta Epsilon. These organizations allow me to participate in events and activities geared towards academic excellence and community service in science, values that I believe are fundamental not only to a career in medicine but to being a great student here at FIU. I was also given the opportunity to become involved with Peer-Led Team Learning, a program that works closely with the Biology department, where I served as a leader for several semesters and intend to continue to do so when my course load allows for it once again. In addition, I volunteer as a research assistant for the Child Narratives Lab in FIU’s Psychology department gaining hands-on experience with conducting studies and interacting with children in a research setting. Finally, I am a work-study in the Financial Aid department. As it stands, I am deeply involved with many different aspects of FIU and I only hope to do more in the future. My fraternity has offered opportunities for leadership that I hope to take advantage of such as positions in Student Government. I also have plans to apply for a role on the Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution’s Student Conduct Committee to be more active in the campus
