Personal Leadership Philosophy

As a leader, it is important for us to have a simple, profound leadership philosophy. I have decided to go about this by answering six prompts of my core beliefs and behaviors which are, I always…, I spend a lot of time…, I value…, I am curious about…, I respect…, and I listen… These six prompts form the basis of how I see myself as a leader and a person. I make it a point to always use my logic clear thinking when dealing with people, issues or situations. I am a firm believer that cooler heads prevail. However, I am also aware that relying solely on my logic without tapping into my emotional side can lead to disaster. It is for this reason that I constantly strive to balance the two, so that I can become a more balanced leader. As a naturally analytical person, I spend a lot of time observing and analyzing everything and everyone in my surroundings. There have been many times that I have been the only person to spot the things that have been overlooked by others around me. I have done this by observing the details and staying calm, even when others have not. It is, however, important for me to know when to simply observe and when to act. That same respect is extended to everyone I come in contact with. Respect is a vital attribute for any good leader, but it is important to remember that in order to earn respect, one must first be respectful. This trait has served me very well throughout my career and life. To me, respect means that you listen to someone’s ideas, follow rules that have been established, as well as know when to help someone, or ask them if they need help. Nearly anything will earn you respect in the eyes of someone; but only certain things will earn you respect in the eyes of those who are respected. It’s that
