Opposing School Uniforms

Uniforms would not be a good idea because of the different problems it would start and how it could cost the school more money than it gained. My claim is that uniforms are a bad idea because they will not make students happy and they won’t be happy that they don’t get freedom to dress how they would like to.

School uniforms are something that is very popular in other countries, but, when it comes to America, it just isn’t that simple. School uniforms have been a very controversial topic in public schools, many schools fight against them but some also are accepting them. A common argument against school uniforms is that it takes away the student's ability to express themselves and that it would be hard to enforce and cost a lot of money. While there are some potential problems with school uniforms they are still surprisingly beneficial. Public schools should require students to wear school uniforms to increase safety and decrease violence.

The big talk of most schools now are uniforms. Some people think that they are a great idea. Some people don't like the fact that schools are applying a uniform policy. A lot of controversy has been rising in the school systems about uniform instead of education. I believe that schools have uniforms because students had a higher bullying rate when we were able to wear regular clothes and it helps people more worried about themselves, when everybody is wearing the same thing. It could really go either way.

Why do we need uniforms? Most student have their own style, but a common argument against school uniforms is that they take away the students right to show their sense of style, creativity and culture. Yes, school uniforms may limit what the students have to wear, but he/she can still have their own ways of self-expression in many forms. Students can still express their style of choice by what shoes they pick, color of the shoe laces, how he or she styles their hair, what accessories they add, jacket they wear or socks; there are many ways. Uniforms are still versatile where they will not be breaking the dress code policy the school has set. Just because a student can’t wear the most latest Polo ,Lacrosse , or Hollister shirt or jeans to school doesn’t mean that his/her rights are taken away. School should be a place where Children come to learn, not to scope out the latest fashion trend. Outside of school, kids can wear and show off their unique sense of style.

There has always been a big controversy on whether schools should require students to wear uniforms issued by the school. Some believe that students should have the freedom to wear whatever they would like to express themselves. Others believe that students should wear uniforms to reduce bullying and provide a look of success. Schools should be required to have students wear uniforms.

School uniforms can keep students focused on schools instead of their outfits. A lot of students get easily distracted by what they’re wearing and trying to make sure it looks good and they don’t focus on what they are learning. If schools required uniforms, students wouldn’t worry about their outfits.

School uniforms have been a commonly debated topic for many years. Some schools feel as though having uniforms is requisite for better school programs. In fifth grade, I attended a school that required students to wear uniforms. I did not like the idea of uniforms initially, simply because I wanted to wear the clothes that I chose, but as time progressed, I realized that all that time I had been reaping the benefits of having school uniforms. Uniforms are advantageous for a school because they help improve the behavioral issues found in students, level the playing field among social classes, and provide a safer environment for students and staff.

The most frequently used argument to school uniforms is that it takes away the students right to express themselves. While this is true, a student can still find ways to express themselves. Schools, parents and students have debated over school uniforms since the past decade. School uniforms can make the school better in many ways. It can improve graduation and attendance rates. Lessen gang violence and economic differences between the students. School uniforms can even improve students discipline and behavior for the better. It can also show a great sense of school spirit.

School uniforms are a topic that has been talked about a lot, and many people have mixed emotions about them. I believe that school uniforms should not be expected in schools, and that students should have the freedom to wear what they want.

With many politicians, schools and even the former President of the United States on board with the School uniform idea, uniforms have beneficial links to a healthy school and a healthy learning environment.

Uniforms definitely have some good qualities, but they are not the answer to all the problems in America’s schools.

School uniforms should definitely be used in school systems. Uniforms are both good for schools as well as for the students. Wearing uniforms will help build a sense of unity within the school. Instead of everyone as a separate team, everyone will be in the same team. Wearing uniforms will help free students of the stress of what to wear in the morning. Wearing school uniforms will help improve student individuality and improve their self-esteem.

Proponents of school uniforms say that it lowers victimization and increase student safety. They say this is done a few ways; one by separating students from strangers and also by lowering gang activity. They also say it increases student achievement and lowered behavioral problems, they also say it increases self-esteem and esprit de corp among the students (Rockquemore).
