Hi fellow classmates! I am Michelle, this is my 3rd, 8-week session in my academic career. I am going to school to obtain my Associates Degree in Accounting and then move on to a Bachelors in Business, at least that is what I am saying for now. I may change my mind and get Bachelors in Accounting, I am not sure yet. I have worked in various law offices in the past and 2 semi-large companies in my career. My last position was with a light bulb manufacturer. I have been married for 16 ½ years to a wonderful retired military man. We have two children 21 and 6, and have just moved to Florida from Ohio 3 weeks ago. This move has been our retirement goal for many years. I currently take 3 courses each 8-week session, therefore, I do not have
In the fall of 2012, I enrolled in North Hennepin Community College to pursue an Associate’s Degree in Accounting consequently awakening my thirst for learning. Majoring in accounting was an easy choice since I had a background in bookkeeping and I have always enjoyed working with numbers. My goal when I first enrolled in North Hennepin was to acquire an Associate’s Degree, and join the workforce, however, as I progressed closer to finishing my course there, I realized I wanted a Bachelors’ Degree since I enjoyed challenging myself and learning material that was critical to my career.
When I first decided to expand my education, it had been so long since I had been to school, and I was very hesitant. I talked at length about my decision with my husband and with his encouragement, decided to enroll but still was not quite sure which degree program to enroll in. I knew that this was something that I had always wanted to do since I obtained my Associates Degree in Nursing, but I did not have the courage, nor did I want to give up the time with my family and children. I second guessed my abilities and my knowledge because it had been so long since I had been in college. Now that my children are about to graduate high school and
The past few years I have had many unique opportunities and made many different decisions on the direction my life is taking. I have had multiple goals and challenges and where I am today has been formed with factors I did not always anticipate. For the last few years, I have worked in management, but before that I worked a variety of jobs. The different jobs I have worked have provided insight as to where I am now and how I would like to spend the remainder of my life.
I will be attending Mississippi State University and majoring in business; in hopes of becoming a personal financial advisor. While attending college, I plan to gain a vast number of tools to guide myself and others to a greater financial state. I also plan to become a certified educator because in our area the occupation is vital to the development of our youth. Benjamin Franklin said, “An investment in knowledge
Throughout my years attending UW-Madison, I have come to realize that I do not want to pursue a career as an employee for my life’s goal. For much of my adolescent years I watched my father build his own accounting business from the ground up which has been very formative in my career goals. The freedom and flexibility of time that my father’s self-employment has given our family is something that I hope to emulate one day for my own family with the help of the Certificate in Business.
One of my greatest accomplishments was graduating from the University of Northern Colorado with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration including an emphasis in finance. While working a full-time job and juggling school activities I completed my degree in three and a half years. My grandfather who was once a Dean of Educational Services at Miami University encourage me along the way. Completing my degree and starting a career in Banking at Wells Fargo brought an abundance of pride to my family. Starting as a Teller I worked my way up to become a Branch Manager in four years. After devoting ten years to Retail Banking I transitioned into Business Banking. Within six months I became a Business Banking Administration Manager,
I am Dolores Hatcher and my hometown is Birmingham, Alabama. I am returning to college fulltime after a ten year absence. The university classifies me as a senior transfer / non-traditional student. I am entering my fourth semester at Alabama A&M University. My major is Social Work and it is my passion. My life has been centered on helping people. Twenty plus years ago I joined the military and after a small number of years I changed my job to Chaplain Assistant (religious support). I feel this is why Social Work as a career field suits me more than any other field. I want to work in the health care field of gerontology. Becoming a Clinical Social Worker is the ultimate dream.
Hi Mrs Tiffany, and welcome to the course. Quite a happy family and interesting indtroduction. It is nice to meet another person who majors in Business Administration in this course. It seems like you have a very busy and consuming and demanding schedule. Been able able to juggle, work, you kids and school and at the same time be succesfull in doing all shows your level of determination. you do have alot going for. I find your career goals to be genuine and certainly and ambitious, but if there is any thing that I have learned is that, with right level of determination and right mind set one, alot can be achived. I hope your do material in the near by future and good
I have nothing right now in my life that is holding me back from receiving my degree. Now I can focus on what need to be. I can get all my assignments in on time, and do all my homework in a timely manner. Also the fact that at CCU it’s different as to where at the last school you had to login three times a week, but now I don’t have to login three times I can just do everything that needs to be done in one day. That really works well with my work and at home schedule. With my new job I know my work schedule three weeks in advance, so I’ll be able to map out the day I can do my work with school, and I’ll be able to manage my work load. I will know what days and times I will set aside to get my school done, and homework, and when to study. By looking back in the past and knowing some of the things that held me back from receiving my degree I know what works for me and what don’t work for me. Now I will be more focus on what I have been trying to do which is my goal and that is to be one of the first one’s in my family to receive a
A little about myself. Where to start? Currently, I am a Sergeant with a small police department at a state community college with over 10,000 students and five campuses. I keep pretty busy with my full-time job and being on call every other week. I spend a lot of my off time with my two boys who are 11 and 13. They are part of the reason why I decided to go back school. I completed my associates in management and was working on another associates degree in networking and communications but opted to pursue my bachelors in emergency management.
First, of all I am a mother before anything else. I have two girls, and one son. Their ages are 17, 11 going on 18, and my 4 year old, and they sure keep me young! I was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley. I have come across many lessons in which have sure helped shape me into who I am today. I was laid off from a job I loved, and after working there for 10 years it wasn’t so easy to find the next job. It wasn’t until then that I decided to go back to school. My short term goal was to acquire a Paralegal Certification in which I graduated last spring. My next goal in which I will have completed my AA degree this fall in Sociology, Social, and Justice. While in attendance at Los Angeles Mission College
When I started at Bethel University I thought completing my Bachelor’s degree would be my biggest challenge and now that I am reaching fruition my concerns are landing the job I want. I have a passion for teaching and now with my degree I feel I am in a better position to move forward. I have years of experience with children and look forward to nurturing and molding the minds. I feel my biggest challenge could be the age factor. At my age, most people are getting ready to retire and I am just embarking on what would be my dream. I plan to sell myself with my experience and attributes and using my people skills as well showing I am a team player and my skills will enhance my job.
I want to finish my education, find a stable job, and give my family a better life. These three goals correlate with each other because my major is civil engineering, in order to realize my goal and achieve my major I have to finish all my credits here at East Los Angeles College and transfer into a university. I currently am employed but my work consists of me working from 5 am to 5 pm, and although I make a great pay I am almost never home to enjoy and raise my kids. I walk a thin line at work, I deal with work on a daily basis the possibility of doing something wrong and losing my job and that makes things for me unstable.
“You should really figure out what you want to do before you waste a ton of money.” “It's okay to not know exactly what you want to do, you have time.” Transitioning from high school to college was slightly frightening considering the mixed emotions I experienced while constantly hearing comments similar to these from not only my parents, but older friends, teachers, informative college advisors, or administration. Although I haven’t gotten into my desired career, let alone the classes needed to get there; I feel my thorough research into every aspect of Accounting, from organizations, internships, and all the needed qualifications will be extremely beneficial in knowing this is the career for me.
When I graduated from high school, I was admitted at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. I enrolled in the School of Business. My major was Accounting. I did so to please my parents and what I thought would be the best fit. I was not very happy, and I must confess that I was bored to death. After two years of studying something that I did not like, I changed my focus to School of Social Work. I was taking elective classes in Social Work/Mental Health Counseling and realize that this field held my interest and really represented how I viewed myself and the world. I was out from College for 5 years. Working with the Department of Social Services and numerous nonprofit organizations. For the last 5 years I have been working as a Social Worker for Department of Social Service Child Protective Service Investigator. I actual love my job because it is customer (client) oriented and I got to practice my counseling skills indirectly and directly with my clients I encounter on an daily
