Essay Muslims and the Religion of Islam

The Islamic religion is a Middle Eastern, Arabic Peninsula, based religion that originated right around the 7th c. and is based on the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad. The definition of the word Islam means "submission" in Arabic, and connotes the notion of a total surrender of oneself to God, Allah in the Arabic language. Individuals who practice Islam are known as Muslims, which, again in Arabic, means "one who submits to God"

One of the main practices for Islamic people would be the Five Pillars of Islam. All Muslims must follow these five rules completely. The first pillar is Shahada, which is the profession of faith, and stats "There is no God but God, and Muhammad is his prophet." The second pillar is Salat, which means daily prayers. Muslims must pray at least five times a day while facing Mecca. The next pillar is Zakat, or alms-giving, in which Muslims believe that everyone should share their wealth with less fortunate people. The fourth pillar is Saum, which means Ramadan. The last pillar is Hajj, which means pilgrimage. All Muslims must make a pilgrimage to Mecca as least once in their lifetime.

The Sufi path is the means within the Islamic tradition of finding the ultimate answer to this basic question. And of discovering our real identity. Throughout the ages religions have sought to teach us who we are and through their inner teachings to provide the means of "becoming" our True Self. Islam is certainly no exception. It unveils the complete doctrine of our true nature and also the nature of the levels of reality issuing from the One, who alone is ultimately real, and provides teachings that, if put into practice, lead us back to the One through a path of spiritual effort combined with joy and felicity. The Quran asserts majestically, "Verily we come from God and to Him is our returning"(2:rs6). The One is of course that Supreme Source and End of all things whom Abraham, Moses, and Christ addressed as the One God and whom the Quran calls by his name in Arabic,

There are many religions that people currently practice. In some cases, one religion is practiced among different cultures, such as Islam. Islam is a religion that is constantly expending and increasing in numbers of believers. It is known, that this religion is practiced not only in Arabic countries, where is originally came from, but we can find its worshipers in America and Europe as well. In this project, I will explain what Islam is, I will review the teachings of this religion with emphasize on object of human creation, view of faith, and beliefs. Next, I will describe how Islam is practiced and who Muslims are among different countries, such as Great Britain and America. Also, I will go over the interaction between Muslims and non-Muslims and briefly describe similarities and differences between both groups. In addition, I will explain how Islam is contrasted with Christianity and Judaism.

Throughout the world, the depictions and realities of Muslims are extremely diverse. However, the way in which all Muslims practice and worship remains very similar. Despite the devastating effects of European colonialism on Islam and the cultural identity of Muslims, Islam is the second largest religion in the world.
