Before he was haloed, Anderton managed piece back the puzzle and finally knew who set him up and as of why he was targeted. The reason was because he knew about Anne Lively who is Agatha’s mother. Anne Lively, a former drug addict when she had Agatha, came back wanting her child back, and Burgess had to kill her in order to keep Precrime viable since Agatha is the strongest among all three Pre-Cogs. Burgess had then set up Anderton to cover up Anderton's knowledge about Anne Lively’s murder. Lara, Anderton’s wife felt suspicious with Lamar so she visited Anderton and got him out of his sleep. During the celebratory dinner for the Precrime program, Anderton calls Burgess and confronts him while the Pre-Cog’s footage of Lively's death is played for the guests. During the moment when Burgess was searching for Anderton, the Pre-Cogs predetermined that Burgess was going to shoot and kill Anderton. As Burgess finds and draws a gun on Anderton, Anderton notes to Burgess the dilemma that he is in: either he can shoot and kill Anderton, therefore signifying that Precrime is a well established and flawless division however by doing so he will become a murderer himself, on the other hand he can spare Anderton’s life, thus showing that Precrime is nothing but a failure. All the hard work that they had all put in will go down the drain in the matter of seconds. As a result, Burgess decided to commit
When we take a look at the second part of the movie "Minority Report" we can instantly notice many interesting scenes which can be seen from a few different perspectives. We have already mentioned philosophical doctrine "Determinism" which is represented within one aspect of the movie, but did we seriously took into the consideration the power of the "free will", and how "free" is it actually according to the topic of the movie. If we compare the pattern shown in the movie where we have certain prophet "pre-cogs" in which he/she is able to predict the things that should/should not happen in the near future, and let the government takes control over that, then there is no such influence of the human individual, thus, the influence of the "free
The last of the Mohicans was a movie that really appealed to me from the beginning because of the heroism and the action into it. The main characters in this movie were Daniel day- Lewis as Nathanial Poe (Hawkeye) and Madeline Stowe as Cora Munro. The movie could be described as a romantic action like a Spiderman or a superman movie always needs the girl to give motivation to the main character but it is a historical drama.
Trainspotting presents an ostensible image of fractured society. The 1996 film opens, famously, with a series of postulated choicesvariables, essentially, in the delineation of identity and opposition. Significant here is the tone in which these options are deliveredit might be considered the rhetorical voice of society, a playful exposition of the pressure placed on individuals to make the "correct" choices, to conform to expectation.
Kaplan is the retired "General of the Army of the Federated Westbloc Alliance" (79), aiming to abolish Precrime and re-instate the Army. He is eventually killed when Anderton discovers the plan and fulfills his "majority" reports and shoots Kaplan, thus condemning himself but saving Precrime. The basis of Precrime’s operation, the three precogs named Jerry, Donna and Mike, are described as grotesque, inarticulate parodies of human beings, with swollen heads and withered bodies, retarded both physiologically and mentally. Their physical repulsiveness is demonstrated by Witwer's reaction to seeing the precogs for the first time: "For the first time Witwer's face [loses] its breezy confidence. A sick, dismayed expression [creeps] into his eyes, a mixture of shame and moral shock. 'It's not—pleasant,' he [murmurs]. 'I didn't realize they were so—' He [gropes] in his mind for the right word, gesticulating. 'So—deformed.'"(73). Conversely, in the movie, Anderton can walk with Agatha through a crowded mall and streets without drawing much attention (precogs are even, in fact, deified by the police force and the public). Also, in the film, John Anderton is a trim, athletic man in his 30s or 40s, and Police Chief of Precrime. Out of
In the movie Wit, English literary scholar Vivian Bearing has spent years translating and interpreting the poetry of John Donne. Unfortunately, she is a person who has cultivated her intellect at the expense of her heart. Both colleagues and students view Bearing as a chilly and unfriendly person lost in her private world of words and mysterious thoughts.
In the early 1900’s silent films amazed audiences with images, later talkies impressed with sound, today we have 3D. As technology continues to evolve so too will film genres. Genres, while having some shared characteristics, also differ in terms of stylistic devices used. For instance, the dramatic film “The Notebook” effectively uses color to reinforce theme and has plausible performers as the two main protagonists.
The plot of the film Minority Report associates itself with a number of themes. The plot is mainly centered around three psychics known as “precogs”. These precogs have the ability to see future crimes that will be committed. The precogs are being used by a specialized police department which uses the visions seen by the precogs in order to capture the criminals before they commit the crime. Fahrenheit 451 is very clear in its warnings which are aimed at our present time. Bradbury attempts to convey the themes of free will and determinism and this theme is also clearly conveyed in Minority Report and is supported by 3 main parallels between the two stories. John and Montag are particularly similar. Both are in government jobs at the beginning of the story, but by the end they had deceived the government and pursued their own free will. Both of the protagonists are also entirely unaided in their pursuit and their wives do not trust them. Beatty and Lamar are also quite similar. Both are leaders and both have committed an act that contradicts the very ideals they are supposed to
The Juxtaposition of Ambition and Obsession “Obsession is the single most wasteful human activity, because with an obsession you keep coming back and back and back to the same question and never get an answer,” (Norman Mailer), reveals a prominent theme of seeking satisfaction, but never reaching the point of enlightenment, which is seen throughout Minority Report. Minority Report, a film directed by Steven Spielberg and written by Scott Frank, takes place in the year 2054, in Washington D.C., where murder is prevented by the police and John Anderton is the head of this establishment, called the Precrime Unit. Everything seems to be going over smoothly until Anderton is accused of the future murder of a man he has yet to meet. The theme of ambition leading to obsession is evident as Anderton struggles to figure out how to stop himself from committing murder, as well as trying to understand the system he once was devoted to.

1. Does the fallibility of the system—the fact that “minority reports” suggest that some few of those treated as murderers had a “possible alternative future” in which they would not actually have committed the crime— make that system morally unjustifiable according to Act Utilitarianism?
One must never judge or discriminate a person based on their physical attributes. Prejudice and discrimination directed against someone of a different race is known as racism. It is evident in the movie “Crash” directed by Paul Haggis, that people misconceive others due to judgement on their physical traits. Throughout the movie, the characters living in Los Angeles face the challenges of fitting in a town populated by people of different colours. The offenders are the “white” people whereas the victims are everyone else. The presence of racism is the main cause of every conflict that occurs in the movie.
After viewing the cinematic film, “Minority Report” by Stephen Spielberg, the task to make an interview about the movie was handed to me. My job was to interview two people about the futuristic technologies in the movie. For the analysis of their answers I will not use their names to keep their anonymity and privacy, since they did not want to share those information, hence I will call them ‘Interviewee #1’ and ‘Interviewee #2’. However they agreed onto to tell their age, since I needed to interview people from an older generation .Also the interviews were done in another language than English, I had to translate it and because of that some of the information from the original interview was altered to make the text more fluent and understandable.
¨Faith is to believe what you do not see; the reward of this faith is to see what you believe, beyond the reach of proof ¨(~Augustine of Hippo & Kahlil Gibran). In the movie Signs (2002) M. Night Shyamalan shows the quest of faith, how it grows, and how it can waver. Like Graham learned we can see signs if we look close enough and everything is connected in a way. M. Night Shyamalan uses symbolism, allegory, and flashback to reveal the theme, that there are no coincidences, everything happens for a reason, and there are signs of a higher power around us.
He 'd probably watched Fight Club one too many times growing up, both the novel and the film had a marked impact on Trent 's band and indeed his public persona. It 'd been a rocky road for him to reach that place, and the character that he played was one born from necessity. Trent 's father was a lifelong biker, and the president of a prominent outlaw MC in California. The man sold drugs, pimped out girls and did a little bit of everything and he 'd been a convict for much of his son 's early years. As a result, Trent was forced to grow up in group homes, and abuse from his caretakers and older children hardened the boy, by the time his dad got out, he was a teenager and the two reconnected with Trent frequently getting into violent
An emotionally stirring movie taking place in Jackson, Mississippi in the 1960s, “The Help” stars Emma Stone, Viola Davis, and Octavia Spencer as three women who share a common motive. This racially tense setting creates the perfect foundation for a drama film such as this. The characters’ personalities in combination with the emotion of the plot develop a socially accurate depiction of the struggles faced by the people of the time. While the racial aspect of the movie is dominant, viewers may also find compassion and friendship within the conversations and encounters of its characters.
