Section C My mentor I interviewed was my mother, Christina Kidd a self-employed Esthetician who takes pride in her profession and loves what she does. She started her early adulthood as a waitress at several different restaurants, as a mother of three she attended a beauty college in Long Beach and achieved her associate’s degree in applied science. She then got training in esthetician at Career Academy to have a license to work in esthetics. She has been self-employed for majority of her adulthood, seventeen years. My mentor manages her own esthetician business called “Skin care by Christy”. She began her business in her home town Orange County by simply caring for other people’s skin till one day people insisted on paying her. Then she expanded …show more content…
If you start your own business there are many benefits but if you do not know what you are doing, you will fail. You must have a motif, a passion and be willing to sacrifice in order to do what you have to do. Having a business has many benefits like having the ability to fluctuate your hours, building relationships, sharing your knowledge or products. But managing a business is not easy it takes a lot of hard work, dedication, and consistency. A business could make millions one year then be bankrupt the next because the economy is not always the same. You must be able to manage your money well because you must have capital to buy inventory whenever needed, while maintaining a budget to support your family, and to put money away for retirement. Because you could have one really good month but then next month could have no consumers. So your business must be your …show more content…
The one that will keep you up working because you love it so much. The one that you cannot stop learning about and cannot stop sharing your knowledge about. I learned that all those challenges and difficulties business can bring you and all that stress it can bring to you, means nothing when it is your passion to complete the challenge. I learned that if you love what you do you’re never really working because you’re enjoying your time. You are doing what you love to do while supporting yourself financially. Doing what you love to will also give you an edge in all your competitions in any business because you are one-hundred percent invested into it. You will never complain about having to do your job because you cannot get enough of it. Being passion about your business is very important to me because you must be happy about your business you want to love your business or you won’t be successful I
The interview process is something we have all gone through in order to get any job. It may not be our dream job but it is a job and we all have to do this process in order to even be able to start working. In Katy Piotrowski’s article “Preparing for the Job Interview: Know Thyself,” she explains everything that you need to know and not know when going to a job interview. Graduating college and having a Bachelor’s degree of Science in Nursing is what I look forward to doing in the next two years. I will be discussing myself applying for a position in the nursing department. Being the right candidate for this RN nursing position in hospice care requires a lot of hard work and dedication, and that is why I am a good candidate for this position.
East Hall High School is where I conducted my coaching interview. I was granted the opportunity to interview one of the most prestige High School coaches in the state of Georgia; Joe Dix. Dix is the head coach for the boys’ Varsity basketball team at East Hall. Dix and his staff were conducting try outs during our coaching interview, which is was pumped about. Coach Dix talked about the pressure on him and his team to bring home a State Title this year since it’s been a decade since his last one. Joe Dix is in his 21st season as a basketball coach and his 11th as the head coach at East Hall. As the head coach at East Hall Dix has won 2 State Titles, with 5 Final Four appearances, and 7 Region Championships.
One thing I believe is a necessity in growing up is having a mentor. Having a mentor is, not only, beneficial for the mentee but also the mentor. Being a mentor is a learning experience for everyone participating, it helps people grow as a person and friendships are created when a bond if formed. Some people might think it's a waste of time for a child or that it'll never work out for a troubled delinquent but based on the research I've done, I have proven them wrong. Through-out this paper I will provide the pros and cons of mentoring and how they affect both mentor and mentee. To back up my proposal that mentoring is supporting, I will supply examples to answer the question: Is mentoring really important?
For this reason clear terms and boundaries must be set and adhered to prior and throughout the mentoring process.
Merylin Orris, RDH, BSDH is a former dental hygiene instructor of mine fom the Dental Hygiene program at SPC. She is a part-time dental hygiene clinical instructor at St Petersburg College Dental Hygiene Program. As a dental hygiene instructor, she followed my advancement through the two-year Associate in Dental Hygiene program and provided me with much valuable information and also with technical skills. As a mentor, she introduced me to the responsibilities and the joy of being a clinical instructor. Her passion for teaching and patience toward the students and colleagues captured my attention even before I applied for the bachelor's program. She guided me through the Capstone Practicum experience and was available
Chapter 5: Are You a Mentor? , provides advice on how to and how “not to” find a mentor. Having mentorship is important to career succession, but what is the best way to find and maintain a mentor. Since, unfortunately, women seem to have more difficulty than men in finding a mentor, Sandberg suggests that rather than asking someone to be your mentor, women should ” Excel and you will get a mentor.” She emphasizes to do good work, ask profound questions and always be respectful of you mentors time in order to maintain a mentor. Chapter 6:
The parent interviewed is middle aged mother of two, which both are in their late twenties. She informed me that prior to having children she thought that she would never experience the joy of motherhood. Mrs. Digat married young at seventeen years of age and longed to have a family of her own. Unfortunately, pregnancy did not come easily. She saw countless doctors and underwent numerous procedures in effort to become a mother. There was nothing she wanted more out of life that to have her own little bundle of joy. Many years came and went without a baby that she so desired; Mother’s Day was especially difficult to endure. Then, unexpectedly after thirteen years of trying she became pregnant. This was the beginning of a
Population(s) Served: 200-250 Academically at Risk Incoming Freshman. Majority being 1st generation, non-white, and/or low-income, though not exclusive to or intentionally targeting these sub-groups. With the “Helping Interview,” all the knowledge and skills have been useful, realizing that I have not only made use of the majority of the micro skills useful in conducting the helping interview, but have also reflected on the stages of the helping interview at placement as well (Ivey, A. E, & Ivey, M. B., & Zalaquett, C.P., 2013).
I want to be a mentor because I want to be a support system for a struggling student who feels like they won't be able to succeed due to their current home life or financial status. Furthermore, I feel like I can relate with many of the "at-risk" students because I come from a low income family who couldn't afford to give me all the opportunities like other more fortunate students at my school but made sure I was able to be both successful personally and academically by constantly pushing me to try my hardest. I also want to be give me able to give back and impact my current community in a positive way and in my opinion there is no better way to do that than through giving guidance and advice to children.
Every business owner needs passion and determination to make a business work. You need to anticipate what comes next and know the
The biggest challenge for my mentor has been getting her students to engage in the activities and to reciprocate what they’ve learned so far. Her sped student is not getting the help he needs at home to further his education, which pushes him behind in class. He doesn’t do anything that she sends him home with because he has no one there to sit him down and do it. It is still a challenge because his mom refuses to get him help, so he’s not getting the attention he
While I have your attention, one more question. We have all new grads fill out an pplication to help us pair them with an appropriate Mentor. Address, martial status, kids, hobbies, that kind of thing. We would like to add age to the questionaire, or at least age range, to help us determine those new grads who may be on a second career or are just older in general and may prefer an older Mentor versus a young 25 year old.
It's one thing to show up to a job as an employee and check in from 9 to 5. It's an entirely different situation when you run the business and you seemingly never clock out. While managing the business can feel all-consuming, it doesn't have to overtake you. There are a few strategic things that you can do to make sure that you delegate and outsource the right tasks. Additionally, it's also really important to have accountability and support when you're running your own microbusiness. Knowing this it's best to hire a business coach to keep you on track. There are three key ways a business advisor can really help you propel forward in your business and achieve incredible success.
Five advantages for owning your own business are: 1) The owner receives all profits, meaning that all earnings go to the sole proprietor, or the owner, and isn’t shared with anyone else. The profit is not split among partners, or split among a corporation. So when you own your own business, you’re the first and only one that receives all earnings and profit. So if a person has a successful firm, he/she is the first to reap the success and rewards. 2) Another advantage
