Put paper here The “Unsinkable” Titanic The Titanic was the largest ship in the world of its time. This ship was filled with people of all ages and social classes. On the night of April 15, 1912, the “unsinkable” RMS Titanic struck a monstrous iceberg and as a result, 1,500 people died. James Bruce Ismay is responsible for the passing of the civilians because he left the boat when he wasn’t supposed to, he owned the Titanic, and he was so cheap when designing the ship. First off, Mr. Ismay was responsible for the civilians dying because he left the boat when he wasn’t supposed to. The text reads, "Some people describe Ismay as getting in to the first lifeboat." As well as , “He said he helped load 8 lifeboats and when it looked like the deck was clear and no one was left, he jumped into and open spot in one of the last lifeboats to leave.” In conclusion, Ismay left the Titanic before the majority of the people could which made him a coward and cause lots of chaos which led to death. …show more content…
In the text it states, "Managing director of the Titanic." Also, “Also consider that Ismay owned the White Star Line, which means he owned the Titanic.” That saying, if someone owns something that is used by the public and someone dies or gets injured, then that individual is responsible for whatever happen. So, in this case since some 1,500 people that died is Ismay’s
The Titanic‘s construction began on March 31, 1909. On May 31, 1911, the ginormous ship has sailed. As on the night of April 14, 11:40 PM, lookouts spotted a large iceberg dead ahead. As the ship and the iceberg move towards each other, BOOM! The Titanic and the iceberg crashed like two middle schoolers in a hallway bumping into each other. A big total of 1,517 men, women, and children died along with the Titanic. Most killed themselves after the Titanic’s sinkage, and a total of 328 bodies were found. But who was to blame of the sinkage?
On April 30, 1907, Bruce Ismay and William James Pirrie had an idea to build a ship, the Titanic. “Harland and Wolff of Belfast, Ireland built the ship,” (United States). Within a few days short of five years, the Titanic was then ready to set sail from Belfast to Southampton. There were 2,223 passengers on board making their way to a better life. The Titanic made it to Southampton the next day, and then set sail for New York. The Titanic gave many people a chance to start a new life in America, and it was known as “The Ship of Dreams”. The ship consisted of millionaires all the way down to immigrants. This dream ship was also said to be unsinkable, however, this story is something that literally went down in history. Many sources state that the cause of the Titanic’s demise on April 14, 1912, was due to a variety of causes such as, the way the rivets were placed, the airtight rooms were not airtight, there were not enough lifeboats for the number of passengers present, Captain Smith avoided iceberg warnings, and the weather that night was a major problem altogether. Each of these played a key role in the tragic downfall of the White Star Liner ship, the Titanic, but the rivets and construction of the ship were the main issues at fault.
Because the crew of the Titanic did not listen to the warnings sent by other ships, the Titanic hit an iceberg at eleven-forty p.m. The scouts of the ship saw the iceberg about thirty seconds before the ship’s starboard (right) side scraped against it. If the Titanic was going slower, then the crew would have been able to turn the ship around the iceberg. The crew and the passengers were not too worried, though. The Titanic was built so that it was “unsinkable”. There were compartments on the sides of the ship that would hold water if the ship were to get any holes. Then, the whole ship found out that there were not enough compartments to hold all of the water gushing into the hull. At eleven-fifty p.m., fourteen feet of seawater was filled inside of the Titanic. Most of the crew was shocked by how much water was entering the Titanic that they started to panic as the ship started to tilt forward.
The “unsinkable” Titanic took an unexpected turn on its voyage and left few survivors to tell about it. The Titanic was said to be very high-quality, but the crew proved themselves wrong soon after the voyage set off. One passenger, Mr. Joseph Bruce Ismay, was on the ship when the tragedy took place. Did he survive? With much carelessness, the crew of the Titanic ignored all warning messages due to confidence in the ship; consequently, they were not so confident when they found themselves rushing to passengers’ rescue.
The, Titanic was one of the most high-powered, largest ships of its time. The Titanic could go as fast as 20 knots or more. Which can be a big problem, being such a big as it was. The Titanic was on its way, not knowing what will come in its path. Having something so deeply built and putting so much effort and trust in something, does not always go the right way you want it to go
There are two things that I, myself, think carry responsibility for the wrecking of the magnificent ship, The Titanic. The first one was that I think that the captain was responsible in one way because he didn’t think that the ship could sink, on page eighteen, it states, “Besides, what danger could a few pieces of ice present to an unsinkable ship?”. It shows how the captain thought it couldn't be conquered. Secondly, the captain ignored seven of them. Seven! He would have to have a very large amount of confidence to ignore that many. Last, but not least, is that on page twenty, it says that the captain didn’t think that the lookout needed binoculars. If he had binoculars,
Until this day, many songs lyrics, books, stories, and movies portrayed the sad love story of Titanic. Naturally, when we hear the word “Titanic” we associate it with passion and love. It is ought to be because the media and the entertainment industry wanted the public to view it this way, or because the idea of a “love story” helps to easiness the reality of the horrific tragedy. In spite of the fictional side of Titanic, the tragedy occurred practically a hundred years ago and it still has not been forgotten, nor will it be. It is beneficial to take a step further and learn the historical aspect of Titanic.
The Titanic shipwreck was a tragic accident. This ship may have been caused by many different things. In my opinion I think that the wreck was caused by the captain, and the weather.
The Titanic was a tragedy that shocked the world as the Titanic was thought to be unsinkable. The Titanic was British luxury ocean liner, thought to be unsinkable, which nevertheless sank on its first voyage in 1912 after running into an iceberg in the north Atlantic Ocean. The “Icebergs loomed up and fell astern and we never slackened. It was an anxious time with the Titanic's fateful experience very close in our minds”
Many people had boarded the Titanic on April 10, 1912 such as, Thomas Andrews and Joseph Ismay. Andrews had boarded the ship to assess the design and note any problems that she might have had. Sadly, Thomas Andrews did not survive the sinking, but Joseph Ismay did and he was shunned by society for surviving. The owner of the Titanic was traumatized by the sinking and became a recluse until his death ten years later.
Imagine being on a ship and knowing that in just a few hours it was going to sink. This is what the people on the RMS Titanic experienced. Although this was a major disaster, it brought to light the importance of proper safety equipment. If the Titanic had proper safety equipment and proper instruction on what to do in an emergency, the final death toll would be much lower. The titanic was an enormous ship that had many amazing features to it. When the titanic sank it devastated the world. The aftermath of the event was horrific, many people tried to help but not everyone could be saved.
The Titanic was a British passenger liner that was on its maiden voyage into the Atlantic Ocean. After a promising first few days at sea, the fate of the Titanic took a tumultuous turn towards the bottom of the ocean after colliding with a large iceberg. The Titanic is the most fascinating disaster to learn about because the Titanic was filled with luxurious rooms for wealthy passengers, it was supposed to be unsinkable, and after the collision, dangerous things started happening.
The sinking of the ship was tragic no argument about it but why and how did the titanic sink. Well for one reason the titanic was going way too fast and the operator fell asleep when taking notes
The titanic was said to be the largest most luxurious ship at the time, also known as the “unsinkable”. After three years of building this huge luxurious “unsinkable ship” the titanic was to begin its first and only voyage. On April 15th, 1912 the titanic struck an iceberg causing the biggest disaster in modern times. The sinking of the Titanic took many innocent lives, it was said to be an unsinkable ship till 5 days later after it left for its first transatlantic voyage.
On a dark, but star struck, frigid April night in 1912, the North Atlantic became a part in history like no other. Today, she sits 2.4 miles under the ocean, once adored and applauded for her prestigious amenities and sophisticated elegance, The RMS Titanic lays shattered and scattered on the ocean floor. We read about her in articles and see documentaries on television, the luxurious cruise liner that will forever be known as the “unsinkable ship”, tells a story of her own even more than 100 years after her foundering. Throughout the decades we have learned more and more of what happened that fateful night. What happened in the early hours of April 15th, 1912 in the middle of the Atlantic that would have caused this
