The connotations associated with “humble beginnings” are varied and most in this audience will think of successful business people, technological advancements or even progressive countries. Ladies, gentlemen and chairperson today the importance of simple beginnings cannot be underestimated because history has shown that the simplest of starts may lead to greatness. IPhone, laptops, iPads are becoming a necessity in society and with the release of each updated version their popularity grows. But is this a disadvantage? In my opinion, no, it’s not. We live in a more advanced and developed society in terms of technology. It is fact that nearly every single day another company brings out something more advanced and from its humble beginnings our needs grow.
One of the worlds most valuable company is Apple. Apple leads the world in innovation with iPhone, iPad, Macs and many other devices. It all started when the 21 year-old college dropout. It was no straight path for him to get to what he created. It was more like a windy road. It was evident from his early years that he had no grand plan to do what he has done. I have to admit that we are very blessed with so many beautiful and breathe taking cities in the world. Dubai is just one of the many countries which has advanced from their humble beginnings and today are multi million tourist. Dubai is another city which has moved from having not as much as other countries once did such as money and a stable economy, to one of the richest cities in the world. In 1966 oil was discovered in Dubai and was a catalyst for Dubai’s economic growth. From a country that had come from not having a stable economy and not a lot of money, it has become like I said earlier, one of the richest cities in the
Dubai is second in size at 4,114 square kilometers after the much larger Emirate known as Abu Dhabi, which takes up most of the land in the UAE. Dubai may have been founded in 1833, but the UAE had not been officially formed until 1971. People in Iraq figured out something that would allow Dubai to flourish economically. The people figured out that Dubai used to be a promising trade location roughly 3000 years ago. Following this discovery by the Iraqis, Dubai quickly began participating in the trade market on their port right off the Persian Gulf, which is a prominent source of oil. So Dubai went straight to it and never looked back. So therefor Dubai's economy over the years has been extremely wealthy. The economy has been at this higher economic status because of one major reason trading oil. Dubai benefited trading oil because they got more money and more control of the world's
At first, technology is the most crucial element that shaping the brand of Apple and it operations. There are three components in this element are innovation, convenience and internal development. Firstly, let talk about innovation, one of the components that fabricated the success of Apple. Years ago, Nokia and Motorola were companies that dominated the mobile phone and software market. Therefore, in order to survive, prospect and remain competitive, Apple applied the philosophy of innovation by creating new products with unique design and function (Nonaka & Kenny, .n.d.). The circumstance forced Steve Jobs to become not only creative, but also demanding, strict and persuasive executive to motivate employee in the process of creating new mobile phone device and software, which led to the creation of the IOS system, iphone and Mac software. In every operation, he is extremely strict and even autocratic in setting goal and strategy and reward based on employee’s performance with the standard of excellent result and has no qualm in berating
According to The Verge over 1 billion Apple products are active worldwide. That is a huge number. These products trace back to one man's vision, Steve Jobs. Steve Jobs’ life has impacted Apple all the way back to its origin and still affecting the company till today. Steve Jobs has shown success doesn't happen overnight. During Jobs two tenures at Apple he has served to motivate his followers inside and outside the company including customers, stakeholders, shareholders and the media with a strong vision for putting the prerequisites of the end-user first, to be different, an innovator and trend- setter. Steve Jobs has led in a bold way that served to motivate his followers through the force of his personality. During the creation of the Macintosh, he wanted to define a different computer. He mounted a pirate flag on the roof of the building and told his staff, “It is better to be a pirate, than
Abstract The purpose of this assignment is to access the “Apple way” and understand the source of their systematic innovation and the way to sustain it. The author states that Steven Jobs has created the most valuable company in the world. And, for the time being Apple is a company that continues to perform well for its shareholders. He does however question weather Apple can continue to rely on aesthetics and its vertical structure in a market that continues to change with well-funded competitors such as Google. There are always dreamers looking to come up with the next best thing and copy cats looking to steel some of the market share.
From my point of view, Dubai has started and went through the right path of development. Nowadays, Dubai has become a capitalist model from its futuristic visions or plans and they always keep looking forward to being the best. It’s not just because of how Dubai looks; it’s about what people think about it, Dubai’s objective is to satisfy them by providing the best services and safe
What was once a small poverty-ridden settlement has now turned into a fully globalized city and business hub of the Middle East, Dubai is the largest and most populated city in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). It has now developed into an economic powerhouse within the past few decades. Dubai’s oil revenue helped escalate the early development of the city, but as of now much of its funds come from real estate, tourism, and construction. Also, Dubai has now emerged as an ethnically diverse metropolis residing of many cultures. According to the GaWC list, Dubai has earned an alpha+ ranking, which is fitting due to its economic prosperity, demographic and cultural traits, political significance and influence, and projected future.
Dubai is a modern city, it did not become modernised until the great oil discovery in 1966- which led Dubai to be the popular tourist destination it is today. Before it was mainly sand but now it is a contemporary city which attracts millions of people every year. The population of Dubai has increased dramatically- in 1975 the population was 183,200, now (2017) it is around 1.67 million. Steve Jobs alongside Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne founded Apple Inc. under the objective of nurturing innovation in the computer business. Like any other company, the starting of Apple Inc. involved challenges of dealing with competition, winning the market share, unfavorable response from customers, lack of innovation, and lack of recognition by potential clients. With all these challenges acting against the ability of Apple to thrive in the computer business, strategic decisions of management were needed to overturn the trend Apple was resulting to – incurring loss after release of new products or not meeting its expectations. Some of the strategies involved a total overhaul of the management and the
Since 1976, Apple Inc. has been a company on the rise. Apple Inc. was created in Mountain View, California by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak. Jobs and Wozniak combined their different talents and skills to make Apple into a successful company, with Job being the visionary and marketer and Wozniak had the brains in technology. Mike Markkula also joined the team as the businessman. Jobs set the mission of empowering individuals, oner person – one computer, and doing so with elegance of design and fierce attention to detail (Gamble, Thompson, 2015). And with this mission, Apple Inc. has come a long way from when it first was founded, by being one of the top electronic companies in the world. “Our people must learn to devote themselves to doing what is good, in order to provide for urgent needs and not live unproductive lives” (Titus 3:14).
Dubai is a well known country for their tourism and their oil. Their oil ran out a long time ago and now they are relying on the tourism industry so that they can increase their economy.
Steve Jobs was an effective strategic leader in 2010. He was able to achieve this effectiveness through his innovation, passion, determination, and foresight of consumer’s future needs. Jobs focused on “vision rather than reality” that allowed him to “imagine a new order of things that others could not see” (Kalla). His creations followed a structured and detailed method. He “pushed suppliers for new benchmarks then adopted the first breakthrough…” (Kalla), instead of revamping another company’s product. Not only did he strive to develop products that set Apple products apart, he also made it exclusive so that he could maintain the superior image of Apple. Jobs considered the user’s need for ease and his desire for superior innovation to produce simple yet elegantly designed products (Zenger). This allowed Apple to set themselves apart and stay ahead of the competition.
Dubai has built some of the world’s prettiest buildings and other amazing feats that can’t be accomplished in the desert, but they somehow did it. For example, they built the tallest building in the world in the middle of the desert, and the world 's first 7 star hotel on an island in the Persian Gulf. They have also built the two biggest malls in the world and one of them has a ski slope in it, yet it stands in the middle of the desert. They also built a 5 star golf course in the desert and it is one of the prettiest golf courses in the world. They also just passed London’s Heathrow airport for being the most traveled through airport, because when in Dubai two flights can land people anywhere in the world. As a result, they just announced they are building a new airport that will make the old one look like child 's play. When they ran out of shoreline, for beachfront properties for the rich and wealthy, they built new islands, all in shapes appealing to tourists, like palm trees or the globe. Ironically, Dubai doesn’t get most of their money from oil, they get it from tourism. This strategy is bold, since if they fail to build things that will bring in tourists, one of the greatest cities on earth will not be so great anymore. Dubai has to go big or go home.
