History is integral part of our lives and historians play an important role to preserve history. Historians are present in every society. They have been around probably throughout the history of humanity. Their work however has become more methodical and systematic now. Modern day historians spend a lot of time searching for the truth from various sources of past information. These days so much information is available and this information is interpreted with so many different angles that a common reader can easily get confused. Most importantly the job of historian is to compile the history and events in most truthful manner and narrate them in the appropriate context. Simple form of narration would be to just to put events together in certain form of order. But job of the historian is more complex and intricate.
A historian tries to put pieces together and fill in the common gaps in those pieces. Certain information can also be contradictory to other pieces of information from the past. Sometimes information has been distorted either intentionally or unintentionally. A good historian tries to bring all that information in the most appropriate order, clear all ambiguities and make the information easy to interpret for common people. History teachers similarly make information and learning easy for their students.
Everyone is connected deeply to its history and past. Societies and whole mankind have deep connections to history.

Why is history important? It is both necessary and helpful to the study the context of prior history because it reveals who we are in relation to other people, cultures, and countries. History influences the way people can process information viewed from other races, and cultures, and even speak, “The old saying is, if we don’t know where we came from then we don’t know where we are going.” By studying history we can take what others’ have done and build on it.
To begin with, what is history? The answer to this question varies depending on whom is being inquired. Predominantly, history is regarded as the study of the evolution of ideas or events in chronological order. History is frequently applied to study topics such as economics, culture, politics and society. However, it can also be utilized to clarify alternative topics such as science, ideology, technology and more. The challenging aspect of history is to obtain documents and sources that are not biased or are coherent enough to trust.
Many of you might be think what is a class historian, a class historian writes a narrative of activities and events; maintains a scrapbook of documents and memorabilia; coordinates activities with newspaper and yearbook teams; and publicizes activities. The student council historian is responsible for keeping a record of all student council activities. Historians are usually responsible for taking photos and keeping a scrapbook that includes newspaper clippings, printed programs, tickets and other items.

Historians believe they need to find the truth. They make arguments, write papers, and give lecture on what they are saying is the truth. Historians want to learn what happened. This is important, because history teaches many lessons. Students of history agree or disagree with historian's arguments and what they say happened or what is the cause of some event.
The two historical documents, Narrative of Lavinia Bell written by an anonymous author in the Montreal Gazette and the Letter to an English Abolitionist by James Henry Hammond, shared their strong opinions on the important issue of slavery. These documents were written in the 1800’s during an era of progressive changes. One can identify similarities and many differences in their opinions, motives, and goals for their writings. I believe Bell’s account was written to show the perspective of slaves’ brutal view, compared to Hammond’s letter justifying slavery and the rights of the slaveholders.
A historian picks and chooses what information to analyze. By leaving out some information it is also a form of manipulation and twisting the past. I think that this shows a direct link between a historian and a mythologizer, whose job it is to twist history for another purpose.
To think like a historian, I think, is based on past, event in history so many questions what happen in the past that cause event who was affected was there turning point decision made in history that affected our past or present. Dating back the pass brings many questions is like puzzle no idea where the event happened, who was involved, what was affected, when did it occur.
History is defined as the study of the science of humanity in the past. It's a broad subject that spans over countless people groups throughout the years that the world has been around. Even before the times we have written word history was still being made, and it is still extremely important. We tend to forget that in our average day to day lives we are still making history. That all over the globe everyone is taking part in what might be in a history book someday.
Theodore Karamanski states that ethics can play a pivotal role in the career of a historian in the public field, because unlike academic historians, the research that a public historian publishes can change society’s view on a historical event. The public historian must be aware that their sources and information that they publish are credible as to provide the public with factual historical data. This search for credible facts and truths classifies public history as the pursuit to provide a reliable account of the past to the public.
