High School Vs. High Schools

FBLA membership has benefitted me because I can truly say it led me to my career choice. Junior year I had the opportunity to participate in the SBE Program at the Ste. Genevieve Care Center. By being a part of this program, I was required to join FBLA. Although FBLA was an organization I had wanted to join for a while, I needed a push to get involved in the club. Being involved in this club was one of the greatest decisions I have made during my high school career. My first year in the organization, I competed in the straight to state event, Social Media Campaign. Due to this participation, I attended the District Leadership Conference where I was a timekeeper and the State Leadership Conference, where my partner and I presented our project. The State Leadership Conference was a memorable event as it was different than any other conference I had attended before. That year I also served on multiple committees and assisted in the decorating of the Senior Citizen’s Christmas Dinner.

At this camp Danny’s friends are all in different groups, leaving him all alone. To make matters worse for Danny, all of the kids in his group are a lot bigger, faster, and skilled more than he is. This makes Danny start to regret coming to this camp. At the beginning of camp nothing is going right for Danny. His coach doesn't like him, his friends aren’t with him, and a boy named Rasheed Hill, whose team got beat by Danny’s team in the championship game

Share struggles, triumphs, listen, talk, and gather. This is what Fellowship of Christian Athletes is all about. “‘The purpose of FCA is to bring together student-athletes, as well as non-athletes, who want to grow in their faith and have a support group of other college-age Christians,’ said Lars Murray, a member of FCA.” ("Fellowship of Christian Athletes unite through faith.”). Fellowship of Christian Athletes is a place for Christian current and past athletes gather to share their story with God and discuss the Bible. Fellowship of Christian Athletes is a safe environment for all to gather and share.

There is a big difference between high school and college from having bells to a no dress policy. For high school students, they are obligated to go, and if they don’t attend then the government comes into play. As for college, it 's a choice to go back to school. Students in college have variety of classes to choose from and freedom,etc. This could be freedom from parents or just doing whatever you want without parents barking at you, because you are now an adult. Even though I have been in college for only a semester, I would say that I enjoy college more than high school due to personal reason,and to pros and cons, of the different schools.

For 150 years, college sports have been an important aspect of American universities and abolishing them would eliminate the benefits that they bring (“College Athletics Programs”). One of the greatest benefits of college athletics is that they bind the school to the community. People who live in a college town love to support their institution and showing up at numerous athletic events displays how far their dedication goes. I have been in a number of programs and extracurricular activities at Lincoln H.S. that helped me define my career goals and challenged me to the fullest. As I finish my journey from High School, I began to slowly realize that their was nothing tangible I had offered to this community, but I what I did offer was myself. Being on the Mustang Varsity team there was always this one person who showed me how to be the best tennis player. His name was David Dinh. Four kids on the team, all of which had played at least four years, were a grade higher than the rest of us and were going into high school. According to IHSAA rules, any player on a high school team could not play or practice with a travel ball team. This meant they could only play with us after their season ended in May. The second problem arose when our coach decided not to return. His son was going into high school, and he didn’t have the time anymore. So we hunted for a new coach, all the way until we found one three days before tryouts. Once again, I looked forward to a season with the Tribe. I have been a member of the Albert Lea FFA for five years. I have taken just about every opportunity to come my way from this program. I have participated in dairy cattle evaluation, general livestock, meat evaluation, and small animal care contests in the last 5 years. I attended Greenhand day, as well as SGLC and SLCCL the last three summers. I am proud to say I have been the top fruit sale seller the last 3 years as well. My proudest moments in FFA have been while serving as Historian in 2014 and President in 2015-2016. I led almost all of our club's activities as our advisor was on health leave. We had traveled in the minivan for 5 hours, for a group of 13 year old boys this trip felt like eternity. However, our excitement kept us all jaunting to each other about silly middle school shenanigans, who can dougie better, and how we were all going to “murk” this tryout. Johnny Evans, Malik Chatman, Gavin Rose, Ronnie Fountain, and I were all selected to try-out for the 14u Team South football team. This team would represent all the best players in the southeast and clash them against other regions best athletes. This would be a 3 day try-out. After leaving Orlando, the van had finally reached its destination. Coach Rose jingled to the car “Atlanta is the place to be, with orange peaches and southern tea,” we all stared at Gavin as his face turned as red as a Crayola. We pulled into the lot of the hotel all participating athletes had been assigned right off of I-75. We all unloaded the van of our luggage proceeded to the check in, Coach got the keys for room 325 and 326. I was so tired of riding in back of the van that I did not really care how the room would look as long as I could put my bags down and fall right into the bed. Malik, Johnny and I entered our room 326 to the right was with a bathroom sink, a mirror, and shower. On the left, a mini kitchen with a stove, island table, and refrigerator. In front of us, there were two wooden dressers pinned together with a television on top. Near the window, there was a small table with a lamp as well as chair in the corner.

Learning to Do, Doing to Learn, Earning to Live, Living to Serve. This is the motto of the very organization that I hold very close to me, and that has helped me make many memories in the process of being part of it. The FFA program started in the year of 1920 when a man named Henry Groseclose from Blacksburg, Virginia made the Future Farmers of Virginia: many states soon followed his lead and created their own Farming type groups (Confer pg1). In 1928, 18 states made the Future Farmers of America (Confer pg1). The colors of national blue and corn gold were adopted as the official FFA colors in the year of 1929 (Confer pg 1), and are still used today. In the year of 1933, Fredericktown, Ohio created the blue corduroy jacket with the FFA emblem on the back (Confer pg 1) that is part of the official dress of the FFA today. On a side note with the last fact I personally am very honored to be part of the chapter that created the FFA jacket and where it proudly every time I put it on. In the year of 1959, the FFA headquarters was established in the town of Alexandria, Virginia (Confer pg 2). Come 1969, women were allowed to join the FFA (Confer pg 2).

This just shows that not only does FFA impact your life while a member, but it continues throughout life whether its memories, life lessons or stories to tell anyone you encounter. At 10pm we sat silently in my mother’s car. I had just spent the entire day competing in a wrestling tournament, and not well I might add. I was frustrated, and ready to quit. My 8th grade wrestling season had been a disaster, and I decided I was done. But I had been wrestling for half of my life, for 7 years and my mother knew this was difficult for me. She looked at me and said, “Just give us one season of high school wrestling Justin. I have a feeling you will really like it if you just give it a chance.” I looked at her cautiously, “One season. In the American schooling system, children begin primary school around the age of six, this is called elementary school and most students stay there for five to six years before they go on to secondary school which involves middle school and high school. After graduating high school some students may go on to “higher education” known as college, but any schooling done after high school is no longer mandatory.

Graduating from high school is what every student is looking forward to. However, going to college is a big accomplishment for all students. The first day of freshman high school and college feels the same, the excitement and pressured. As many students experienced, both high school and college could be compared their similarities. First, both students in college and high school are expected to behave in well mannered, attend to every class on time, and respect the teachers or professors. Second, being prepared in class is needed for the success whether the students are in high school or college. Third, high school and college allow the students to figure out and pursue their career. In contrary, high school and college have a lot of differences to each other. Unlike high school, students in college can choose a college they would prefer, they can manage their own time, and students be able to learn how to balance their responsibilities and priorities.
