Studies show that high school sports build sportsmanship and character. High school sports and weight training can always help and benefit in a positive way. Some ways that I've found during my research are these. Having the ability to represent a community (Brown). Stewart Brown said “When you play for your high school you are representing the community in which you live. You will participate against other communities and enjoy the sporting rivalries that have developed over numerous generations before you.” Another way is Fitness. Relieving stress can be difficult at most times, but these are some ways sports can help. Stress can lead to health issues which in turn lead to heart problems. “High school sports can relieve the stress some may be having leading to a healthier lifestyle.” said AZ Central's Ashley Miller. Teens are more open to more people (teammates) when being in a sport. That as well leads to a lot less stress on their
In conclusion, the benefits of sports cannot be denied. There is no doubt that interscholastic athletics in high schools are generally good for student’s mind and health. It is the mental and conceptual area that many use to support the importance of participation in competitive sports, something many can wholeheartedly agree with. It is also the same area that some point to when behavior exhibited by some athletes does not seem to support what is believed they should be learning. As with anything, however, one can only get out of something what one puts in. Athletics also provides social benefits and center on concepts such as cooperation, teamwork, and friendships. All of which can also benefit them in school and the workplace. Physical benefits
Playing sports or even having the knowledge of them can result into happier and more social students. In the video Notebook: Kids and Sports, Katie Couric states, “Playing sports cannot only give kids more confidence, it can also give them more rewarding friendships” (Notebook). This implies that our school can be more successful if we have greater variety of sports kids can join. Although being happier and more social isn't the only benefit of being in sports.

Children are often exposed to sports at an early age. As they get older and start school they often participate in sports as a way to both make now friends and be active. As the children grow older, progressing into their teenage years, they become more specialized in their sports. The sports that the young people continue with grow in their favor. There is the pressure from coaches, teammates, and others to succeed. The futures of the athletes are at stake. They play for the chance of scholarships and to continue their childhood dreams. This immense pressure is very draining on the teenagers. The pressure for them to do well in sports leads to them suffering in other parts of their lives. The intense atmosphere of high school sports can be detrimental to the individuals involved in them.
Which can help us “Initiate the ability to set and go after goals,” which is “a part of the competitive process”(Source 2). This shows high school sports can also help us develop a competitive character, which can guide us in the long run. Yet another reason why we should keep sports in high schools. Although school is for learning, on the other hand sports can help us learn to be better people over all. We shouldn't take sports out of high school when it can help us learn more. If we took sports away from high school students, it would drain the chance at learning experiences. They wouldn’t have every good sportsmanship, or a competitive side. They also wouldn’t receive positive recognition. So why even think of taking sports away
