It is the same with our working relationship with the individuals that we meet, some over step boundaries and turn into friendships. In the United States today there is an epidemic in heath care costs and medical benefit coverage not covering all a patients need; leaving victims with large medical expenses. This week has been crazy busy. We have had all kinds of animals, with all kinds of issues. We've been so busy that our appointments have been back to back, with little time between. This kind of sucks for the patients since we only have two rooms, and usually one doctor on staff, but we are pretty efficient and everyone gets in and out in a timely manner. Of course with the priority being that everyone gets the treatment they need and their questions answered.

Basic training and continuing education for healthcare providers should include gender consciousness and sensitization due to the power of influence it has on provider and patient interaction. Awareness can also be raised by integrating gender into health literacy programs. Quality care happens effortlessly when mutual respect, openness, and balance of roles is present. The interaction between patients and male providers is more passive compared to their female counterparts. There are also instances where individuals would rather consult with providers of their own race and gender is no longer a factor (Govender, 2007).

“The report reviews several practices whose evidence came from the domains of commercial aviation, nuclear safety, and aerospace, and the disciplines of human factors, engineering and organizational theory. Such practices include root cause analysis, computerized physician order entry and decision support, auto-mated medication dispensing systems, bar coding technology, aviation-style preoperative checklists, promoting a ‘culture of safety,’ crew resource management, the use of simulators in training, and integrating human factors theory into the design of medical devices and alarms.”
The “Sociological Perspective on Health and the Health Care” introduced perspectives about social structure, and social relations. The readers learn the sociological theory and the main misconceptions related to health care, and their policies. It provides an explanation of the production and the distribution of health care services. Firstly, structural functionalism focuses on individuals and groups in society and how it maintains a social role. Furthermore, symbolic interactionism focus on the conflicts in interaction amongst individuals. Moreover, social constructionism focuses on the medical facts and social authority and the reign over all in society. Also, gender and race influence the social conditions, and implications evident in Canadian health. Class conflicts with the control of power and the relationship between the employers and employees. It enhances the inequality evident in workplaces and the social stratification; ranking one by their assets. Materialism portrays that society is a social consensus rather than a conflict. However, this conflicts between the rich and the poor. Therefore, the healthcare impacts the minority, and affects it the most. Since the rich have an advantage of other options, however the minority struggles to afford private health care or buy their way around. Furthermore, the Marxist theory and oppression focuses on the exploitation by capitalism. It emphasizes on
Bullying often associated with one kid being cruel to another kid, evolved beyond the playground, and move into adulthood. Unfortunately, bullying has emerged into the workplace, aptly called workplace bullying. Bullying can happen at the same organizational rank (employee to employee) or involve hostility by a supervisor toward an employee (Baack, 2012). Conversely, workplace bullying is the repeated, health-harming mistreatment of one or more persons (the targets) by one or more perpetrators that includes threatening, humiliating, or intimidating behavior, work sabotage and verbal abuse (WBI, 2014). The article, Workplace Bullying: Costly and Preventable by Terry Wiedmer (2011), presents information about workplace bullying including
Prevalence and Predictors of Underinsurance Among Low-Income Adults (2013) by Hema Magge, Howard Cabral, Lewis Kazis and Benjamin Sommer examines low-income adults and compares the rates of underinsurance with those who have public insurance versus private insurance. This research aimed to shift gears from more common research on underinsured middle-income individuals with private insurance to underinsured low income adults with public insurance. To begin measuring the rate of underinsured individuals, they defined underinsured as anyone meeting the following criteria;
Workplace bullying is the topic of the assignment for this week. Workplace bullying occurs when someone or several people in the workplace mistreat people working around them and cause undue stress and unrest. Workplace bullies are no different from child hood bullies and they terrorize, intimidate and menace but in an adult situation. The workplace bully uses this technique as a form of intimidation. (Baack, 2012) This paper will discuss and review information regarding workplace bullying and the impact on the victims and the organization. This paper will also provide firsthand accounts of workplace bullying and how the account related to the article this week. Finally, recommendation will be given of techniques from the article that the organization should use to deter and eliminate workplace bullying.
There are two different ways that the heath care system is structured; the Dawson model, where the primary, secondary and tertiary levels of care have a distinct line drawn between them and where primary care is the first point of access with the health care system, or the other model, where patients go directly to a specialist of their own choosing without referral from someone in the health care field. The first model is the preferred model as it focuses on a coordinated primary health care system where health care resources are divided equally amongst communities. (Bodenhemier and Grumbach (2009)).
Bullying at work is across the board and is by all accounts spreading like a pandemic, whereas in the past, individuals could sensibly hope to experience their working lives without meeting a genuine tormenting occurrence, now anybody can be in danger of being seriously harassed, maybe a few times in their profession (pdf 1).
