2. Suggest a significant opportunity for HR to become more of a strategic partner within an organization. Justify your response. In any organization it is important for HR to touch all levels of the organization and to understand the organization’s environment. An organization who values their employees cannot afford having a human resources department that does not function in a strategic partner role. Human resources professionals, in organizations are equipped with the knowledge, skills and abilities to work with talented senior leaders in an organization. They have the ability to successfully partner with each department within an organization to understand the overall business. HR professional can assist in designing strategic plans to balance the needs of the organization, the employees and the stakeholders. HR can help align efforts of the various functions within the organization with the established goals. They can support the organization’s functions by recruiting, developing and retaining company team members who are crucial. HR should be the driver of the organization’s values. They must not only focus on internal tasks but must step outside the box and fully understand the organization as a whole, how it operates, the competition and what could influence the organization's progress. They must be able to handle change, perform environmental scanning, understand outsourcing and processes
Human resource is an appellation used in referring to the workforce of an organization or company. Human resource management is involved in the act of putting together employees in an organized manner to assure the objectives of the organization are achieved in a competent and experienced manner. Human resources are the most important services of any organization since they are the catalysts of non-human resources and the medium for developing competitive advantages and sounds of creativity. No organization can exist without a human resources department (Walsh, 2009). A company without an HR department would be reducing its operations and could collapse within a short amount of time.
Human resource departments today have a more distinct, calculated position within organizations, and human resource strategy influences the bottom line. “One of the challenges for HR leaders is convincing executive leadership teams that human capital is one of the most important resources in which the company can invest” (Mayhew, 2014, p.). Subsequently, “this return on investment is an essential part of the argument for including HR as part of an overall business strategy” (Mayhew, 2014, p.). Human resource departments utilize the information given to them from company executives and leaders, coupled with their respective expertise on all things personnel, and they plan and implement staffing concerns for the betterment of the organization. From preparing job analysis, to comparing inventory and forecasting, it is the responsibility of human resources to consider the objectives of an organization and fulfill those goals while operating the specific planning relative to HR.
The board of directors and the president know that they have serious human resource issues. They understand that management practices have to change in order to compete in the local healthcare market as an employer-of-choice. As in any healthcare organization, fiscal resources are limited, but the board is firmly committed to investing in a well developed human resources plan that will decrease the turnover and stem the ever-growing turnover and vacancy rates. The president has asked you to attend the next board of directors meeting to share your plan for addressing these serious issues. What will you tell them? Outline the focus of your presentation and include the issues you have identified, as well as the recommended strategies for turning this around. (Points : 25)

HR professionals have to think carefully about what they are doing in the context of their organization and within the framework of recognised body of knowledge. They have to perform effectively in the sense of delivering advise, guidance and services that will help the organisation to achieve its goals.
This is very important to Human Resource Professionals because they are the ones that make sure organization objectives are being met, and policies are being followed. It is the Human Resource professionals that deal with staffing, compensation, safety and health, training and development as well as employee and labor relations issues. In the essay I will be explaining the important processes in human resources. Within human resources there are many factors to be considered when planning recruitment within health and social care. As a trainee HR officer at St Jude's nursing home the factors to be considered when planning are; corporate objectives, financial strategies, and economic changes.
Managing human resources helps health care organizations to be effective. Human resource management (HRM) functions involve the recruitment, placement, evaluation, compensation and development of the employees of an organization. Human resource management incorporates various functions. The primary function of HRM is to increase the effectiveness and contribution of employees in the attainment of the goals and objectives of the organization.
The HR Function is in a position to add value by proper formulation and implementations of the following activities and in turn support the organisation strategy.
P1: Write a report describing how human resources are managed in a selected organisation that you know well.
For this assignment, I interviewed two human resource professionals, Ms. Cathy Price and Mr. Richard Newman. I previously worked with Ms. Price as her understudy for three years. I appreciated the education and work lessons she provided and often utilize the skills and abilities gained from the experience. I specifically chose to interview Mr. Newman for his position in a hospital setting, as it is my intention to seek employment in the healthcare industry following graduation. My interview choices reveal my desired career path outlining where my career began, to where I hope it is destined for in the near future. Additionally, it highlights the differences of operating human resources in two diverse industries. Each professional provides valuable insight into their organizational challenges and goals.
Human Resource is a function which is essential in every organization, but also one which is most criticised. The debate whether HR is for the benefit of the employees or the organization has been one of the most contentious issues in management. The fact is that, the purpose of HR function is to enable the organization to achieve its strategic goals by providing it with the best possible talent. Therefore, before evaluating whether HR is on the side of employee or management, one must understand that HR is part of the organization and exists for the benefit of the organization. However, this does not necessarily mean that HR has to be against the interest of employees.
The article that is the basis for this assignment, provides a framework to analyze the different aspects that managers and other executives use to promote employees in an organization. From this author’s understanding, this article for this assignment was written to dispel “disconnects [that] occur in part due to differing view of why one was promoted and other were not.” (Service 2008). This article also proffered a revised formula consisting of 30 factors that, though not dispositive when taken individually, with a totality of the factors, can determine why someone is and is not hired.
b) Which of the models of strategic HRM do you feel best represents a strategic approach to HRM? Explain why.
The almost every HR manager is facing a variety of challenges to meet these challenges for the future, tomorrow. HR manager or department must be much sophisticated than their predecessors. It’s important to build and develop a frame work that allows flexibility for today and future. Every organization must identify what their priorities for the future grow as human resources. It is very difficult but there are many factors contributing to HR managers functions and these activities are constantly changing.
