Well let’s get started…It’s time to pick up your Bibles. One can conclude that from the Book of Genesis (Gen.) up until the Book of Malachi (Mal.), that there are underlying themes of God’s overall plan for humanity: To love God, to love others, and to give-off a responsible love for God’s world. Now this love is contingent upon one’s ability to: (1) Trust God (2) To Believe in Him, and (3) To Obey Him. In the Book of Genesis, it vividly paints a picture of God’s loving nature and reasoning for human creation. One can find in Genesis chapters 1 and 2 much meaning of our existence from the following scriptures: Gen. 1:27 -28 reads, “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And
It’s fascinating that each creation story hints at a common purpose for humans. In Genesis 1, humans are given
My mind started to roam on the possibility that God or a higher being created the universe. Mostly, I am an open-minded person and after reading about the creation story, my mind was thinking about all different types of scenarios relating to the story. When God finished his creation, “And God saw everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very good” (The Bible). My thoughts viewed God as more than just a creator but someone who’s first intention was to create good. Which brings me to my thoughts on humanity. I think humanity is naturally curious and selfish. Humanity is a race that beholds these characteristics similarly to the selfish and curious act of Adam and Eve. My thoughts have always been the same and reading about the creation story has farther proved my point. On the other hand, I have always thought the point of humanity was to have a purpose on earth. After reading about how God created humans to be responsible for the care of earth, I had to agree with his intentions. I do believe all humans have a certain purpose on earth whether that be a good or bad purpose. God’s intentions follow a similar light to my thoughts. I do think it is a responsibility for us to care for the earth, we live here and we should all take care of it. Humanity was not put here to use all the resources the earth gives us to not care for it back. Overall, reading the creation story has given me conflicting thought about my
The purpose of man is to praise and worship God, proclaim his glory, and to accomplish his will."… And whom I have created for My glory, …” (Isaiah 43:7 New International Version). God created all things in harmony. He established a perfect creation that he loves and over which he rules. The highest honor is given to mankind as the only part of creation made in God’s image. Humanity was created to love as God loves, to worship and praise his glory and commune with him as he does with us.
As told in the Bible (Genesis 1-3), God created the universe and all things we see. God did all the creations in a six day period, resting on the seventh day. It is also stated that each day God created something different from day and night to man and woman. God took his time and examined his work consciously until he was satisfied. By accepting that God created everything that exists including human, we build a closer relationship with him.
While the series of “Genesis” is considered as one of Michelangelo’s greatest works at his early stage, the “Last Judgment” indicated his late style of new understanding of the world and life. The ceiling painting’s background is either white or light blue, and the figures are mostly dressed with cloak and drapery. On the contrary, the dark blue background of the “Last Judgment” with a massive use of shadows presented a dark tone. Figures in both the paintings have strong and vigorous figurative lines, and they are muscular and dense. However, in the “Last Judgment” figures are clearly not drawn base on the proper proportion, in fact they are out of proportion. The heads are relatively small to the bodies, and the torsos are wider. [1] This
The primary difference between Genesis 1:1-2:3 and Genesis 2:4-24 is that Genesis 1:1-2:3 says that the world was created in seven days, going into detail about what was created each day in a specific order. The basic summary of Genesis 1:1-2:3 is that He creates light and darkness on the first day, sky and water on the second day, land and vegetation on the third day, the sun and moon and stars on the fourth day, fish and birds on the fifth day, and lastly, livestock, crawling beasts, wild animals, and humans on the sixth day, resting on the seventh and final day. Every section ends with, for example, Genesis 1:13, “…and there was evening, and there was morning-the third day.” Genesis 2:3-24 is different in that it does not give any certain
All religions have some way of recording and retelling stories which are significant for the believers within their tradition. Usually these stories are recorded in special books which are given great authority and considered holy or sacred. In some religious conditions, sacred texts are also believed to be divinely inspired. (Goldburg, P., & Blundell, P. (2009). Investigating religion (p. 50.) The two sacred texts that have been selected from the Jewish Torah for to be methodically analysed and investigated are two creation stories, Genesis 1 and Genesis 2. These two texts are sacred because these laws and texts are believed to have come from G-d, who had put in place ethical standards directing the Jews how to live their lives. Despite their
God created all humans in His own image. Humans get separated from God because of disobedience. God provided the meaning of salvation through Jesus Christ.
In Genesis, we see the foundation laid out for the entire Bible, beginning with a bang in Genesis 1:1 (In the beginning God created the heavens in the earth). We see this God interwoven throughout the rest of the entire Bible in the lives of man, the people with whom He loves unconditionally. Focusing on the first 11 chapters of this inspired book in the Bible, we see countless lessons and instruction from the supreme, yet intimate God. The first couple chapters in Genesis give us a peek into humanity in its very origins; in being able to view God’s fingerprint in the natural world, in humanity as we find our identity, in the relationships that we exhibit every day, and in civilization as a whole.
The first Act from the text is called “Act one, God establishes His kingdom.” Genesis 1 describes how God, or Yahweh as the title He selects as the savior is the one that brings the whole world into being, with in mind a unique relationship with humans, the last of His creations. He alone is the only one that was already in existence with unrestricted capabilities, and is eternal (30). Genesis 1 describes how God is focused on people’s relationship with the world, and His creation of the earth, the sky and the sea (33). Genesis 2 is more focused on man and woman and Gods relationship with each other (33). Once God formed new creatures, He would then name each showing his supremacy over each that He created (31). The last formed creatures God created is humans and we are to have a special relationship with God, and we as humans are responsible for special care of the world, as caretakers of His creation we will be held accountable (33-34). Men and women are the only creatures to enter into a special relationship with the creator and as creatures of the almighty God, the one way for each person to fill the longing for peace in their hearts is through a relationship with God (32). God formed humans in his image and in his likeness as humans our life on earth is limited, and we know that God is unlimited as ruler over all that walks, crawls, breaths and all that exists (33). Each person must acknowledge that we as men and women
The answers lie in the Bible. It all started with the creation of the universe. In genesis chapter 1 god talks about creating the world. In fact, he said four words,” let there be light.” And suddenly there was light in the world. Then God made all things the land, the water, animals, and then lastly mankind. In genesis 1:27 states “So God created mankind in his own image in the image of god he created them; male and female he created them. This shows he made us with the intention to be like him and be loving and to be powerful
In the Bible, Israelites view God as the undisputed creator of the universe, creating time and space; literally forging light and darkness into the canvas that would make up the world that we know. The book of Genesis is entirely about Gods work week as he created everything in the universe from the sky and the sea, to every time of vegetation and living creature that roams it. The Bible speaks of God in a powerful, but peaceful way, and it is clearly shown in the book of Genesis because he overlooks his new creations every day and it proclaims, “And God saw that it was good” (Holy Bible, New International Version, Genesis. 1.4). This shows that his intentions, from the first day of the universe’s existence, is nothing but pure goodness. Israelites believe that all of this was created for all of humanity to enjoy, as it says in Book two of Genesis, verses nineteen, “...He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name.” God showed us with this generous and compassionate act, wanted Adam, who represented all of humanity, to live in
In Genesis 1, the pinnacle of creations is that of humanity was made out of the image of God. According to Got Question Ministries, Human nature is that which makes us distinctly human; our nature is unique from that of the animals and the rest of his creations in that as humans we can think and feel. (Hoekema, A.) We have the capability to rationalize, no other being has this capacity and this gift is bestowed by God. The bible demonstrates to us that our Father made humans as a representation of himself which allows us to have some understanding of him. We reflect some of God’s attributes; we love because we are made in the image of God, who is love. (1 John 4:16). God made us to be loved. Our purpose as humans is to endure and withstand life through reproduction, and to develop moral values that make life meaningful. Most importantly to commit to humanity as a whole to build a better would for current and future generations. As the bible repeats that the human were created out of good (Genesis 1:31 NIV), the goodness was eventually marred by the
More than anything, human beings seek to acquire a distinctive and personalized purpose set apart from all other earthly inhabitants. According to the Hebrew Bible, the passage of Genesis 1:26 – 31 can be excellently interpreted as one that contains the original blueprints of a divinely constructed purpose for the first humans. While the Book of Genesis, commonly attributed to the authorship of Moses, contains heavyset implications regarding pre-exilic and postexilic Israelite controversy, Genesis 1:26 – 31 reduces much of the common nuances in synchronic and diachronic perspectives as a result of particular contextual setup and obvious partisan address. Through critical analysis and appropriate deliberation, the distinctive purpose of man, or ‘adam’, – a purpose that is set above all other God-created entities mentioned in the passage – undergirds the unique relationship humankind is thought to possess with its divine creator and fellow creations. With Genesis 1:26-31 under careful reflection, all details mentioned within the selected passage of the Hebrew Bible come together to support a meaningful interpretation of God’s unique designs for the human race.
We see this in Genesis to Revelation. The Most High is the creator of all Heaven and Earth. When we see this, we can see the purpose for the creation. In II Peter 1:3-4 it says: “According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue. Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.” Yahweh’s divine power has provided for us. It is a power that Yahweh is working on our behalf, not by our own efforts, but by His
