My passion to care for people was evident when I was growing up and I knew I wanted to become a nurse and care for the sick when I cared for my grandmother who was not feeling well. After high school, I started my career as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CAN) and worked with the elderly population which I really enjoyed. I worked as a CNA as I enrolled to school and earned my Associate degree in nursing in 2011. As an RN, I continued to work in a nursing home and rehab facility with the elderly as I decided to pursue my BSN. Upon completion of my BSN I found a job at a hospital in cardiac telemetry heart failure unit where I enjoy working as I care for people. …show more content…

I've very adaptive to new technology such as programs used for online documentation and electronic MARS. Other registered staff in my unit often comes to me for problem solving and troubleshooting with our online documentation program. I always put my patients first and I take the time to listen to my patients & families, no matter how busy my schedule may be. I work well under pressure and in a solo or team environment. I strive to become more knowledgeable in nursing in order to provide the best care I can to my clients In order to excel at my profession and passion I need to do everything I can to make myself better. As part of that, I did not stop with Bachelors, I did my masters, then I did Medical-surgical certification & I am also certified preceptor, have certification from UCF. My upbringing developed my core beliefs of community, family, loyalty, compassion and honesty. It also taught me that all things worthwhile require hard work. I love being a nurse, but recognize my yearning for more. I love nursing and have enjoyed my time as a floor nurse although my work experiences are acutely based, I have observed the direct relation between primary and acute care. As a nurse primarily working with patients, I have observed how patient miseducation, miscommunication, and
Health care is a fundamental element to sustaining the welfare of our society. The ability to become a student in the Grand Canyon University (GCU), Master of Science in Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) program, takes me one step closer to being able to achieve my dream of playing a vital role in helping our society towards disease prevention. My experience in the acute care setting has reinforced my passion in disease prevention and health preservation. My short term goal is to be able to successfully complete the required course work. Secondly, I want to be able to acquire the necessary certifications to be able to practice as a FNP. The program at GCU will provide me with the knowledge, and skills I will need to effectively develop my role. The long term goal I have set for myself is to reach the Doctorate level degree at some point in my career. I would like to practice at an independent level and have my own practice in
During the first three years I will work as a nurse practitioner in an urgent care/occupational health care setting serving individuals living in low socioeconomic areas. Providing urgent care treatment in an underserved community is important to me, as these communities are in dire need of healthcare providers who speak their language and understand their culture. I hope to make a difference in these communities by encouraging prevention. In order to be worthy of serving this population, I will need to partner with a practice that will take me under their wing and help me reach my highest professional development potential.

With my BSN from Catholic University, I was hired at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where I began my career, developing the utmost passion for being a pediatric nurse, caring for the pediatric patient population in a hospital setting. I found myself drawn to the family-centered care with evidence-based practice as a foundation for the type of nurse I would become. Empathizing with families and what they are going through in an emergency department, while trying to provide the best, most innovative care for their children, became my priority. I began to desire more, wanting to see more of the country and continue to practice as a nurse in the Pediatric Emergency Department. I decided to become a traveling nurse, packed my bags and experiences and took the initiative to see and do what I could on my own.
Becoming a family nurse practitioner is my dream and my long term goal is to achieve this title and practice with it. I will be able to give back to several rural and urban communities by providing patients with quality care as a passionate family nurse practitioner. My ultimate goal after gaining immense clinical experience during my practice as a nurse practitioner is to give back to this amazing profession by transitioning to the position of a family nurse practitioner educator. The primary nurse practitioner program at South University will provide the advanced level of education I need to work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to provide high quality, evidence-based patient care and ultimately impact the health of the entire population through patient education and outreach in multiple heath care settings.
For as long as I could remember I have always wanted to be a Pediatric Nurse. From the day I got my appendix out to all the other times I’ve had to go to the doctor, I have had many experiences with nurses. I have always loved taking care of kids especially when they’re in need of medical help. In high school I plan on taking two child development classes and two healthcare classes. I also plan on volunteering this summer at either a day care or nursing home. I plan on starting my nursing career by going to college first. I want to go to Winona State University in the fall of 2019 and feel that your scholarship could help me out with that goal.
As an evidenced-based practice driven, level three newborn intensive care staff nurse, I found interest in your university as your goals in education align with my current and future aspirations. My goal as a pediatric nurse practitioner is to provide a higher level of care by promoting wellness and disease prevention through patient education. I want to equip future generations with the skills they need to promote lifelong health and wellness. By providing evidenced-based practice in a pediatric outpatient setting, not only will I be able to improve individual patient health outcomes, but sequentially will also improve the communities outcomes.
After working as a nurse, gaining experiences for a period of time, a question I asked myself, what would I like to see myself in the future? I hope that three from today I would start working as an
Also, I am a person of my word, honest and trustworthy. I am ready for any challenges that may come my way. I am a hardworking individual and feel that nursing would suits me as a career. I have seen good and bad things that can happen when it comes to caring for patients and am capable of handling each situation in a professional manner. After two years of health care training in high school and coping with the death of my father and my own personal illness, I know that I am destined to be a nurse. The experience that I have been through motivates me to help others in need. I love working and caring for people. Also, volunteering at the nursing home has placed great emphasis on my life. Taking care of and working with elderly patients has guided me to find positive value in life, which allows me to give generously of myself to others. More importantly, it has taught me to stay calm, be patient and be reassuring in emergency situations. My life experience, education and health care training will help me succeed in the nursing profession in the future. For these reasons, I feel that I am the perfect candidate for the Francis Marion University Nursing
Personal knowledge was identified by Carper (1978) and is defined by personal experiences, and analysis of yourself and that of others. The role of a Family Nurse Practioner is strongly influenced by Carper’s (1978) fundamental patterns of knowing. Personal Knowledge plays a particularly unique role in the development of all aspects of nursing care. Personal knowledge development is specifically used for the role of FNP by requiring the practitioner to examine his or her own attitudes, behaviors and values in order to reflect upon their own self to be compassionate, and caring, and to provide the highest level of care to patients across the lifespan.
Throughout my childhood and teens I have grown up watching shows such as causality and holby city which inspired me dramatically as it allowed me to gain more knowledge and understanding about a hospital environment. From then I knew I wanted to be a child nurse and I wanted it to be part of my everyday life. As soon as I started researching the role of a child nurse, I knew it was the perfect career for me as children’s nurse.
Taking the first step even if you don’t see the path in front of you. Life is full of chances, and without chances there would be no opportunities. My whole life nursing has been my intuition. I want to be the first one in my family to exceed past the limit, and go to college. I have learned many different skills from my jobs over the years, which have made me such a dedicated and hard working woman. There are many different paths in nursing that interest me, but what stands out the most to me is labor and delivery. I cannot help but try my hardest in everything that I do, but I will not let down anyone while pursuing what I’ve always wanted to do.
her future practice. As the DNP Essential VI document denotes, the DNP graduates are well positioned to function as collaborators with members of the other professions (AACN, 2006). As an example, this writer has taken a step forward and collaborated with the local American Heart Association to provide basic lifesaving education to non- clinical members of the team. This was well received by the management team and has attracted potential clinic customers in the process. Looking at the big picture, this writer will apply principles learned to achieve high patient quality outcomes, emphasize evidence-based practice and deliver the highest level of nursing
