As of now, I have undergone classroom training and have worked three eight-hour shifts under three different doctors. I accompany the provider in their exam of the patient and in subsequent re-evaluations and procedures. Accordingly, I take notes, chart, and acquire lab results for the provider. In observing different doctors, I realize that each provider has their own style of interacting with patients, but patience, respect and understanding for their patients and their peers remains common to all of them, making them effective providers in the
They serve as pillars of wisdom and guidance while exhibiting communication adroitness with care teams and patients to engineer top-notch medical care. To maintain high standards, effective medical professionals are constantly taking in new information through continuing education, placing providers at the pinnacle of knowledge. Moreover, physicians require affective aptitude as they must convey empathy during patient interactions. All these attributes draw me to seek the personal challenge and resulting responsibilities that are demanded. I desire to become an important contribution to society in a field I am passionate
In addition, teaching is a significant part of any doctor’s life. As physicians, we are constantly educating not only our patients and their families, but also other physicians, residents and medical students. A physician may know all the medical information in the world, but the care of a patient is primarily predicated on that physician’s ability to successfully
Shadowing physicians with drastically different doctoring styles and personalities helped me understand more than just the daily workload but also which doctoring style I prefer. I also learned that physicians need to work as a team with other physicians, nurses, medical staff and patients. I glimpsed at their busy schedules and found that physicians worked in the wards and in the clinic, took on-call duties every other weekend, filed their own billing and charting, covered each other, while still making time for their families. Being exposed to this has helped solidify my aspirations to one day become an effective and balanced physician. I aspire to be a physician who remembers the details, takes time to discuss treatment, and has a broad
I am the founder and president of the SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) Chapter at my school, and I've helped create SADD chapters at other middle and high schools in multiple school districts. Currently, there are about 40 students in my SADD chapter. I started my SADD group my freshman year, so I have been involved with my SADD group for almost three years now.
In nearly any medical profession , “You are always a student”-Dr, Robert P. Graham JR. As a physician's assistant you are constantly challenging yourself with new medical diagnosis. Whether assisting in surgery, conducting physical exams, taking a patient's medical history, developing treatment plans, assisting in surgery, counseling on preventing care, writing prescriptions, or simply making rounds in hospitals or nursing homes, this career is mentally and physically challenging.(enkivillage.com). Nearly every physician’s assistant, you are dependent on some type of medical professional, usually a doctor. It is extremely important that your medical firm fits your needs financially and emotionally. Every office is going to have a different atmosphere in which you have to conform, unless you have your own office, In that case, if you are a physician's assistant you would most likely be in an urgent care clinic. Either way, as a physician’s assistant you are constantly supervised and working with several medical professionals that guide you constantly throughout your work.”Patients are unpredictable, and situations change quickly, so you need to be very adaptable to any situation”(Gap Medics). While being well-educated and adaptable is important to be a physician's assistant, it is extremely important that you know how to communicate calmly and clearly. Patients and doctors need a dependable, well-educated, and relentless person to rely on for countless
This experience is meant to act as both training and knowledge, and puts residents into direct contact with other residents, patients, doctors and nurses, and the family members of those that depend on quality care. Although residents will be making decisions and actually treating patients, there is always someone “senior” to ensure that things are done properly and in the best interests of those involved. The goal is to provide residents with the experience necessary to allow them to be successful when they practice on their own, but this comes at a
As this is rarely a one-person task, participation in this advanced education opportunity will stimulate my appreciation for achievement of quality patient care using the multidisciplinary approach. Additionally, exposure to other healthcare organizations will create an advantage for identification of best care practices that I may utilize in my own organization.
The first standard I demonstrated was standard one. Standard one is supporting instructional opportunities. When Mrs. Levan had a sub, I assisted in delivering instruction to the class. Mrs. Levan wrote in her lesson plan to have me paint the student’s hands to look like spiders. I painted both of their hands black and put their handprints on their spider webs. The students had a fire drill while I was there, so I walked at the back of the line to make sure all of the students made it outside safely. At the end of the day, I had the students come over to the carpet and I read a firefighter book to them. The students enjoyed me reading to them.
This week I had the opportunity to purchase my EDAD 701 Education Studies Textbook for class. I felt very relieved to make this purchase because it was the last book on the shelf. During the previous weeks I made several attempts to purchase it on line but I fell short because the book would have had to been shipped from overseas and I couldn’t possible wait that long for a purchase. After I received the book I began interpreting Chapter 6 the citizenship education on black and minority communities. I haven’t concluded the chapter yet or discussed it with my partner but that process will soon be completed. From scanning the chapter I did have the opportunity to discover that this particular chapter was extremely stimulating because I could
To further my experience, I began working with patients and assisting the doctor in surgeries. During my time assisting I acquired the skills necessary to provide for patients. The quick paced schedule and hectic situations taught me to work fast and efficiently while also caring for the patient. Eight years of working with patients and learning different aspects of the medical field have provided me with the experience needed to interact with patients on a regular
Currently, I am working as a graduate assistant to Dr Melody Eaton, associate director of the graduate program. Dr Eaton is an inspiring woman and provided me many interesting projects to complete. In addition to graduate assistantship, I am doing my practicum at the family practice and pediatric office. This semester I had an opportunity to work with MD and nurse practitioner (NP). This was the first time I had MD as my preceptor. This was definitely an eye opener to me because I noticed a difference in the approach of MDs and NPs. For instance, MD preceptor focused more on diagnosis and treatment while NP on connecting with their patient. Also, I noticed NPs were better able to convince the patient and MDs had deeper understanding of pathophysiology
On Thursday, July 27,2017 I attended clinical at the Golden Valley Medical Clinic in Clinton. I learned several tasks that take place in a clinic along with the many roles that are played at one desk. As an LPN in the clinic, there are many roles that take place. The LPN is responsible for assisting the patient from the waiting area into a patient examination room, obtaining current vital signs along with weight and height, ordering lab work and x-rays, handling referrals to and from the clinic, instructing patients on current and new medications, giving injections, and setting up and assisting the doctor with procedures. The Clinic currently accepts any patients ranging from infants through the elderly.
All of the staff members who work here in our office have years of experience in their field and are fully trained. Their goal is to provide patients with personalized and professional care. They understand what motivates their patients and what kind of results they are expecting.
I called Randy up to my desk to have a quiet conversation and Inform him that he needed to complete and update his EDP, he refused, saying that it showed he was 100% finished. I explained that the 100% did not mean that he was done and that he need to edit some of his entries and update his goals to be compliant with the EDP process for this school year, this is the third time that I have told Randy this Randy became argumentative and complained that it was a waste of his time. I explained that he wanted to complete his gradpoint work. I reminded him of the conversation he and I had yesterday about his sleeping in class until 10:45 and informed him that sleeping was a waste of time and that the EDP was a requirement. I gave Randy the suggested
Education plays a major part in enabling us to have an excellent patient outcome, but we also have to include experience and knowledge into this equation. The
