These are the skills and competencies I have learned through my studies at Walden University. Kaslow, Grus, Campbell, & Fouad, et al. (2009) stated professionalism comes from my respect for those who need help. Integrity can be built with confidence in the therapist. Attitudes are charitable, polite, caring emotions toward others that fuel my motivation toward helping. This concern welfare of others comes from my religious and personal experiences as a child and young adult. Furthermore, legal responsibility is willing to accept fault, knowing when to ask questions of a supervisor to more clearly meet the needs of the client. Kaslow, Grus, Campbell, & Fouad, et al., 2009). Moreover, this insightful implementation is the ability to …show more content…
Moreover, Kaslow, Grus, Campbell, & Fouad, et al. (2009) stated that the client/therapist relationship is built on trust and kindness, empathy, and positive regard. Interpersonal and professional relationships are key. Affective skills are based on personal and cultural context (Kaslow, et al. 2009). Furthermore, there are boundaries that are associated with each relationship. Affective skills are based on personal and cultural context(Kaslow, Grus, Campbell, & Fouad, et al., 2009). Kaslow, et al. (2009) postulated that ethical legal standards are policies that protect the professional and the client/patient. Awareness and use of ethical decision making is through ethical courses that I have taken in my Master’s Level and now next quarter in my doctoral level training Subsequently the interdisciplinary systems are facts that are shared between colleagues from different disciplines (Kaslow, Grus, Campbell, & Fouad, et al., 2009). Functioning in multi- and inter-disciplinary contexts are working with other professionals in the health care sector in a holistic way. Physical therapy, occupational therapy, and psychotherapy components are examples. Assessment and psychometrics are required so I will know what treatment to employ for the client/patient. Evaluation methods will be learned in Cognitive assessment. Application methods will be learned also how to use the method best for the client. Diagnosis is to charge the
When working with all clients there is a need as a practitioner to use techniques that incorporate, promote a therapeutic relationship. While these may be presented differently with each client the practitioners need to be using three main skills. These are using Unconditional positive regard, being genuine with clients always and while you may not have waked in a similar situation as your client, the use of empathy supports the therapeutic relationship.
Many assessment tools and interviewing skills are available to the clinical social worker within a mental health setting. This paper will examine one such assessment tool, the competency based assessment, and its applicability in a mental health setting. A comparison will be made between this advanced assessment method and a generalist social work assessment. Interviewing people who have mental health concerns can offer challenges for clinical social workers. Several interviewing techniques that can help with some of these challenges will be outlined.

The common goal amongst all healthcare disciplines is for optimal patient outcome. In order for such a goal to be achieved, all healthcare disciplines must integrate interventions/treatment plans and work collectively to provide continuous care. The usual health care members consists of physicians, nurses, pharmacists, respiratory/physical therapists, dieticians and social workers to name a few. Integrating care helps reduce redundancies, lower costs, allow for universal language, and an ability to share information. At the current moment, new technology such as universal EMR systems like EPIC and Cerner for examples, provides for better access to charts so that patients can receive
The purpose of this document is to demonstrate my having acquired and developed the competencies noted by the College of Nurses of Ontario as possibly lacking in my skills and experience. During my time practicing as a nurse in Ethiopia, I feel I have gained the required skills and experience needed to be accredited as a nurse in Ontario. My time working with a diverse array of clients, as well as in different care settings has imbued in me a range of skills and competencies that I feel make me exceptionally qualified to practice as a nurse in Ontario. During my time in practice, as well as in clinical placement, I have been fortunate enough to buttress my learning with a variety of different
I remain passionate and committed to my goal of improving patient outcomes through improved sleep in the intensive care unit. In reviewing my personal literacy blueprint the barriers that will potentially get in my way are in Edison’s competencies of Solution-Centered Mindset and Full-Spectrum Engagement. The opportunities for improvement in this area are to learn to write down my goals and to review them on a regular basis. My goals are established in my mind, but I need to write them down and review them regularly to keep on track with this project. I also need to be willing to experiment more, to explore different ideas, and to not hold tight to preconceived pathways and solutions which could limit my ability to find the best solutions. Another area of opportunity lies in learning to optimize my time and energy. Too often I allow myself to become bogged down in day to day tasks and forget to take the time to work on what I am passionate about and what I believe
Therapeutic relationship is defined as the collaboration and attachment between the client and therapist that focuses on meeting the health care needs of the client (Bordin, 1979). In this relationship, the therapist without prejudice shows Empathy, insight, understanding and acceptance of the client. Duan and Hill (1996) defined Empathy as “feeling into” the experience of the client. Over the years, the research evidence keeps piling up, and indicating a high degree of Empathy in a Therapeutic relationship is possibly one of the most potent factors in bringing about positive outcome in the therapy
The Mississippi Nurse of the Future Competency Model is a set of core nursing competencies for the nurse of the future. It is the result of many nursing leaders in the state coming together to develop core competencies needed for entry-level nursing practice. Mississippi was one of the first states to develop and adopt a competency model. The purpose of this model was to improve education and practice of nurses in Mississippi, assist in articulation across nursing education programs, and help employers understand the difference between skills expected from them based on their educational degrees. The competencies were developed according to educational backgrounds and included LPN, ADN, BSN, and MSN. The Mississippi Competency was later revised to include PhD competencies. The Nurse of the Future Nursing Core Competencies are as follows: Patient-Centered Care, Professionalism, Leadership, Systems-Based Practice,
Despite the amount of time the therapist spends with the patient, she stressed the importance of developing a trusting relationship with the patient (IPEC, 1.6).
Albert Ellis views the therapist as a teacher and does not think a warm personal relationship with a client is essential. In contrast with Beck, he stresses the quality of therapeutic relationship. Beck argues that therapeutic relationship is usually highly directive, confrontative and persuasive (Frey & Wellman, 2007). In concern with the theories, that is, cognitive theory and rational emotional behavioral therapy theory, they share common characteristics.

It will discuss different ways to foster Clinician and Client relationship in order to gain a positive report. It will provide supporting evidence that the relationship positively influences the outcome of the therapy. The following will also review the ways for one to be a better clinician, that

In order for the counseling relationship to work, building a therapeutic relationship with Taneka is essential for the counseling relationship to be effective. Important competencies to build a therapeutic relationship include, but are not limited to, empathy, listening skills, trustworthiness, care and concern, ethical behavior, genuineness, sincerity, congruence, support, and encouragement (Knapp, 2015). These core competencies support building rapport by creating an encouraging, respectful, and collaborative space for the client (Knapp, 2015). In addition, core communication skills help to open up the conversation and help to build rapport or a meaningful connection (Knapp, 2015).
Core competencies are the most significant value creating skills within a company and key areas of expertise that are distinctive to a company and critical to the company's long-term growth. Core competencies are the pieces that a company is superior than its competitors in the critical, central areas of the company where the most value is added to its products. These areas of expertise may be in any area from product development to employee dedication. A competence which is central to business's operations but which is not exceptional in some way is not considered as a core competence, as it will not generate a differentiated advantage over rival businesses. It follows from the concept of core competencies; resources that are
