Chalmette High School is located in Chalmette, Louisiana. The schools population is one thousand six hundred and seventy two students and many diverse cultures. It is a school that has rebuilt since the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. It is a public school that has students from grade 9-12. The role of the classroom teacher is applying for creative fellowship grant. It is grant which will provide financial resources for the teacher and school to develop and improve on the education of the students. The population make-up is sixty percent Caucasian, twenty-two percent Hispanic, fifteen percent African American and three percent Asians. The classroom structure is made of a mixture of cultures. Having diversity is very important, and the learner has to understand how important it is have the correct relationship is there in the group of people. The students will also have to understand this. The teachers will develop an assessment from testing the students using the formal and informal methods. The formal method would give the students quizzes, tests, papers, homework and exams. The informal method would allow discussions and ungraded quizzes. Creativity is the ability to think divergently; this means that the person has the ability to look beyond the traditional use of something. There are ways to measure how well a person can do this: one example could be to give them an ordinary object, a paper clip, along with 60 seconds to come up with all the different purposes of that object. It is also the potential to act freely outside of a set way to do something. This potential includes the capacity to regard the world this way has great importance– it can provide a new and unique outlook on problems like health care, peace in Afghanistan, and how to save the Gulf of Mexico. However, the number of people with this ability is rapidly declining, so a solution is needed now. From doing this, she’s had more students pass her class then from when she was teaching straight from the text books. The increase in classroom diversity has continued to be in the forefront of not only in regular education settings but also in the church classroom settings across America. Of course, living in California we have one of the highest percentages of multi-ethnic student classrooms along with the most crucial of problems when it comes to multilanguage households. Counselor Angela Cabello has a background of either Irish-Catholic or Italian Catholic background. All the classroom educators, the counselor and the school administration identify as Caucasian. In today’s open world I think diversity in the newsroom in both print and other forms of media such as television and radio is very important. Without diversity all the stories that are reported would be slanted towards one ethnic group or another rather than being a diversified story that would show all sides of a particular newsworthy event. I think in our reading this week we read about the Wall Street Journal that we can see that diversity not only affects racial or ethnic groups but could also be looked at as far as social class goes. In my viewpoint, creativity means to have an own personal idea of whatever appropriate topic it is considering. There are many differing forms of creativity. One form which differentiates is "Big C" and "Small C". "Big C" creativity is the advance kind of thinking that most people understand, however, it is quite rare. On the other hand, "Small c" creativity describes the little ideas and "a-ha’s" that improve and develop our lives.
