I strongly believe that Carnegie Mellon University is teaching and engaging with people who improve the lives through technologies, and who have taken the responsibility of what happens in the rest of the century. The university’s emphasis on the new-age technology in STEM fields, offering opportunities to work on projects that unite multiple disciplines with an integrative approach, fascinates me. I want to learn, create, and innovate at CMU, Pittsburgh with a ‘Major’ in Computer Science at the School of Computer Science, in the University. Not a single day passes when I do not explore the University’s website. In my dreams, I am already there. As I walk through the gates on the Forbes Avenue, I feel at home. I can see myself picking a book from the Librarian Jessica Benner and sitting cross-legged, reading on the steps of The Engineering and Science Library, Designing and launching my Robot while working under Martial Hebert, taking time off to eat at Schatz in the Cohon University Center. Walk the ‘Cut’ and check the Fence. Study and learn the basics under the internationally renowned faculty. Attend presentations by eminent speakers. Talk to the fellow students, and explore the Pittsburgh City. Further, with the university’s expansive network of global educational opportunities, which includes the satellite campus in Qatar, I wish to make use of the study abroad program to spend one or two semesters, here in Qatar. That will allow me to spare some time with my family while I continue to study my course. Moreover, a safe and secure campus is a good reassurance to a girl student. That, coupled with the university’s stand as a leading institution for women in computer science, makes my ambition stronger to join CMU,
