The vocabulary used is not simple by any means, but at the same time is not too difficult for someone with a high school education to read. While the text is clearly academic, the words used are easy to understand and context clues provides clarity. The point of view is strictly academic and the tone, scholastic. The author uses third person as well. The author very frequently calls on other references and sources to validate their position and prove it to be more true because of statistics and studies. Doing these things allow the author to be more credible. The higher their credibility, the more persuasive and effective their argument. After You Read The author is writing to a an audience of individuals who either questions, or are looking to improve the overall health care system in the United States. The author was intending to persuade the reader to analyze the information, and from there …show more content…
The authors are wellness counselors, which means they promote and encourage healthy lifestyles as well as inform the masses on what needs to be done to be of optimum. Under these circumstances, it prompts the authors to write on their experiences, share the data, and analyze and inform the reader about what they’ve been studying for years. The author will usually make a statistical reference to a criticism or point hey are trying to push. At the end of the sentence, the author will cite where they got their information from. Their views contrast between negative or positive depending on if their statistics or research proves the issues that America faces, or shows how improvements can be made. I am writing and rhetorically analyzing “The Wellness Challenge” text. The keys words “health”, “America”, “disease”, “mismatch”, and “wellness” signal what I will be reading about and pinpoint me in the direction of understanding the
I believe that one of the most pressing health care issues facing the nation would be the lack of access to quality healthcare services. At the clinic, most patients are financially disadvantaged and unable to gain access to quality healthcare services elsewhere due to lack of adequate insurance coverage. The inability to access quality healthcare services can have severe consequences: not only are these people unable to get the proper treatment for their ailments, but their inability to access quality healthcare can lead to further complications, higher treatment costs, and emotional distress. Fortunately, Drs. Alieta and John Eck have managed to provide adequate medical care for most of their patients at the clinic.
The United States healthcare system has undergone a wide variety of changes over the past few years. As the overall health of its citizens continues to deteriorate and people live longer, certain aspects of healthcare are costing an increasingly large portion of the healthcare budget. Problems such as obesity, diabetes, cancer, and substance abuse have become the most pressing issues facing healthcare providers today.
I feel honored that I have been chosen by you to be able to repair the American health care system. The American Health Care System has been on a continuous rise regarding health care costs for the past decades. Health Care can be viewed as a major topic because it touches everyone from young children, adults, and seniors. In our lives, we will seek care, which may include medical reasons, injuries, and or preventive care. With our Health Care System, it can be viewed as a conglomerate because it includes many aspects such as government agencies, insurance companies, specialists, hospitals, and employers. Moreover, even though the United States Health Care system provides well-equipped medical technology and care, there are quite a few shortcomings that shall be addressed. First off, there are shortcomings with the Affordable Health Care Act (ACA), which includes some disadvantages. One disadvantage is that employers hours are being cut down from full time to part time because they are unable to pay the costs and are only required to cover full time employees. Because of this,
One way to improve health care in the United States is to switch to a more proactive approach. The way in which health care the US is currently operating is reactive, which involves seeking and
Health care disparities are the main crux of the American health care system because while American enjoys some of the most advanced health technology the world, it is very much market based, causing health care inequality. These inequalities force people of lower socioeconomic status without insurance to visit emergency rooms once their health problems are catastrophic, expensive, and difficult to treat. By transferring the health system to a proactive system with increased medical education and governmental subsidization, a patient will not only experience diminished health care costs, but also an improved quality of
Healthcare is a hot topic for all Americans and everyone has their own views on how the healthcare system should run. This includes the public and the politicians. Today we are going to address issues in the United States healthcare system including access to care for both physical and financial reasons, how payment for care runs the industry, and quality of care in the aspects of internal factors including: public insurance plans, and private insurance, as well as the external factor of the economy.
Today, many people are still wondering about the health care system in the U.S. Each day, someone is trying to come up with a better way to help our health care system in the U.S., whether it be the president, vice president, or another important pupil. Many people wonder if there is anything that will ever come along the help our health care system and the Harvard Business Review found one proven way to improve the health care in the U.S.
Currently in the United States, the health care system is experiencing a vital crisis. The U.S. is ranked the highest paying health care system per capita out of 10 countries including, Australia and the Netherlands. We are also ranked worst in patient quality and outcome (Bernstein). Americans without health care are more prone to life threatening health problems and the life expectancy of an uninsured individual is about 60 years. Shorter life expectancies are due to health conditions such as high blood pressure and unhealthy lifestyles that could have been controlled if they had health insurance. Numerous health care reforms have been put into place to improve the system’s efficiency. However, the reforms have made a weak impact on changing the system. The three major problems of the U.S. health care system are high cost, low accessibility, and poor patient quality and outcome.
Today’s healthcare focus is on providing patient-centered, safe and effective care for improved patient outcomes. This focus is not only important for the patient’s health, but has become vital for the financial well-being of healthcare organizations. The United States has consistently ranked among the highest in healthcare costs and the lowest in improving patient outcomes when compared to other industrialized nations (Davis, Stremikis, Squires, & Schoen, 2014). There are multiple national organizations and initiatives designed to improve the state of healthcare in the U.S. and this topic is often debated at all levels
There are many reasons that the United States needs to address the health care system. Some of these reasons are that over 47 millions of people are without health insurance and many more are lacking an adequate plan. Also the cost of health care was too expensive for many of the lower and medial income families. The previous health care system was more focused on the volume rather than implementing quality provider care (Anderson, n. d.). The United States health care system was not focusing so much on health but leaned towards illness. There were no value in care services, patient did not have a significant role in their own treatment plan and care outcomes were not satisfactory. One example is a patient receives excellent care in the
Healthcare in the US has been facing some serious challenges for past many decades which not only affects quality of care in hospitals but also raises medical costs. Some of the key problems facing healthcare are as follows;
This publication does not seem to have a particular political orientation and does not try to pursue a particular cause. The cause is to inform other professionals and the public to the issues in the health care industry. However, this publication is more directed towards professionals than the public.
Health and wellness are defined differently by every individual. My clients had their own perception of their health and wellness. For confidentiality purposes, I will not state my clients name during the paper and only use the word “client” or “she” when referring to them. The importance of this interview was to establish a helping relationship with a client to assess their health in a holistic perspective. Throughout the paper I will discuss four phases; pre-interaction, introductory, working, and termination phase, as well as reflect, about my communication skills towards the client, at the end.
Purpose: The purpose of this presentation is to inform the audience of wellness programs that are inefficient, and to persuade them to choose the right wellness program for their company.
A series of changes need to be made to the method of delivery and payment of primary care which in essence will lead to provision of better health care and the actual money spent will be of more worth along with giving the US citizens more access especially once they gain insurance coverage: “Millions more will receive public subsidies that will enable them to afford private coverage purchased through newly created, state administered insurance pools” (Kovner, 2011). The US health care system needs to focus on improving medical products which will serve to enhance safety of the patients and qualified personnel need to place more emphasis on avoiding medical errors. The time needs to be taken to arrange a series of programs to train and educate health care workers on the topic of health which can then help identify and promote preventative services. Another way to encourage delivery of high quality care would be to implement more structured payment reforms such as bundled payments: “Its ability to support flexibility in how and where some care is delivered” (Silversmith, 2011).
