Activity 20 How much do construction workers make? Construction workers perform the important task of building. The average salary for construction workers in 2014 was $35,750. Do I need to go to college to be a construction worker? There are usually no specific educational requirements for entry level construction workers. Apprentice laborers are often expected to have a high school diploma or G.E.D. How important is it to be able to read and interpret blueprints and electrical drawings? There is nothing more important than being able to read and interpret blueprints and electrical drawings. This is because all activities of a construction worker depend on these two. If one cannot read and interpret these, one cannot plan and execute construction
This job doesn't really require any education besides knowing how to weld. It's not required but can go to a technical college to get more experience and training besides the on site training.
Framing construction workers make twelve dollars an hour starting without experience. But framing is great for beginners because they learn all they need while working. Being little more experienced worker he or she can make fifteen dollars an hour. The overall annual wage ranges from $23,000 to $30,000 just being an employee. Being a contractor in framing your annual wage would range from $40,000 to $60,000. But contractors can make more money if they increase their speed on framing houses and get more workers to work for him or
The changes that have come about with the introduction of BIM usage within UK Government contracts necessitate for Education Institutes to re-evaluate existing construction specific courses to adequately implement BIM into the curriculums at all levels to provide continuing educational development within construction specific courses (Suwal, 2013).
Being brought up in a family having a history of construction; it was manifested for me to be drawn towards the field of civil engineering that possesses an enormous growth potential. As a toddler I often accompanied my father on his visits to construction sites. Eventually, as I grew up I would stand for hours admiring the intricacies of the building design. In due course of time, this led me to a path focused at making a career in construction. With a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, I now seek to augment my dexterity in this discipline and broaden my horizon by applying my capabilities towards higher education in construction management.
It is generally accepted that inadequately organized construction information initiates the loss of time, high cost and inconsistency, which indicates the significance of BIM standards
The building and construction industry is a wide industry that encompasses many professionals. No one person does all the work from start to finish, many people are involved in teams that contribute to each stage of the works until completion.
A construction is defined as an agreement for the construction, repair, renovation or restoration of building or engineering works. It used to determine what work has to be done by the contractor, where the work is to be done, when this work must be completed, to what standard the work should be done, how the contract is to be administered and how is to be paid to the contractor by the employer.
I was curious and wanted to know more his occupation. He explained to me the pay for contractors are between ninety thousand and one hundred and fifty thousand dollars depending on work experience and education. He also told me that many construction companies are hiring for young workers to train for specific positions, but they must be at least eight or older.
In the present scenario, BIM acts as an important key tool for growth in Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry globally. As per Mc Graw Hill construction Report (2012), the percentage of BIM adoption in the United States of America (USA) is been gradually expanded from 49% in 2009 to over 71% in 2012. And by United Kingdom Government in 2011, BIM is mandated in Government Projects to reduce delays of projects, carbon level, and cost overruns. And also in Singapore Government provides funds for adopting BIM and to increase its usage among AEC industry (Kushwaha and Adhikari, 2016)- P526. And Even the Global Construction sector output will be augmented from US$ 7.7 to US$ 25 Trillion by 2025. And also, the growth is expected to increase from 35% to over 55% by 2020. But, In contrast of it, Indian counterparts are not tapping the true potential of BIM tools and using them for visualizations and walkthroughs (Autodesk, 2005) (Kushwaha
Construction is an ever growing business. As more people are born, more residential homes need to be built. Same goes for commercial buildings. People need to buy more “stuff” to fill our big houses with. We as humans are always trying to make our lives bigger and better. Being a construction worker for a few years helps a person understand that the job is very selfless. All the time is spent building for others. Always trying to capture the perfect image of the product to satisfy the customer. This applies to all facets of construction from Heavy building construction of large buildings all the way to the small carpentry of cute bird houses. The job can be very satisfying.
Apart from that, the mode of communication between the construction professionals also changed due to introduction of BIM in the construction industry. This is because, the building product model is used as a tool to communicate with other professionals about costing where this situation will reduced the QS time spend in communicating with architects, engineers, contractors and client. By using this building product model, people will get a clearer view in what the QS explained about. Next, with the introduction of BIM, the progress of works in all stages will be reduced. This is due to the sophisticated software where any correction on the drawing will be automatically updated on the building model and there is no need for other profession to revise
Professionals in this career field must being willing to work in a variety of conditions and undesirable locations due to the nature of work. They must also be prepared to spend allot of time outdoors at construction sites, rain or shine. They will be required to keep an eye on operations and have the ability to solve different problems on the spot as they come up.
Civil engineers design major construction projects, such as roads, airports, tunnels, dams and bridges. They also supervise project construction and maintenance. They must possess a very broad skill set, from cost accounting to geology. Many civil engineers have jobs that require a very hands-on role in construction, while others may have positions more heavily weighted toward supervisory and administrative skills. They are often called upon to present reports to the public or government officials. Whatever the details
Construction is a very vital stage in execution of civil engineering structures of any type, as much important as it is, it must not be trivialised as wrong
Additionally, engineering program curriculum of the 10 universities, mentioned previously, are also researched in order to find out whether their engineering programs have any cooperation courses for BIM education. In engineering program, BIM is able to apply on administration of construction process, integrated design delivery project, construction management, structural analysis, and costing construction, and it has many other related subjects which is able to applied indirectly. However, only 2 universities have BIM course, and 1 university is planning to apply into the engineering program curriculum among the previously mentioned 10 university. According to the Universities’ engineering program curriculum, their major goal of the courses is that students have effective architectural digital design skill and flexibly responding technique to the design changes during the project. Moreover, during the courses, student can understand how data or information of architectural design is shared with construction by computer science and digital technology in design and construction phase. Therefore, according to the researches in terms of BIM course in architecture and
