Currently, the major that I am personally most interested in at the Gabelli School of Business is information systems (IS). To put it simplistically, information systems majors will enter the workforce with the ability to utilize complex computer systems in order to solve business problems. Furthermore, at The Gabelli School of Business, information systems majors will learn how to collect and process business data, utilize complex computer hardware, and perform complex tasks via various types of computer software. IS majors must take the following six courses: Database Systems, Business Applications Development, Systems Analysis, Web Applications Design and Development, Project Management, and Global IT Strategy and Management. Additionally, …show more content…
Students who major in accounting have four different major choices to choose from: Public Accounting, Public Accountancy, Applied Accounting and Finance, and Accounting Information Systems. Specifically, the major I am considering in accounting is Accounting Information Systems (AIS). In the accounting field, technology plays a huge role because almost all firms use some sort of computerized software in order to fill out their ledgers. Therefore, AIS molds a business education with technology training together; thus, AIS will help prepare students for the real accounting world. Additionally, AIS majors have the option to do a dual-degree program in Public Accountancy where AIS students can take the CPA exam. This program is a five year program where students will graduate with a MBA or MS in accounting and will have the opportunity to become a CPA. Some sample courses for AIS majors include: Intermediate Financial Accounting I and II, Advanced Concepts in Financial Accounting, Individual and Business Entity Taxation, and Commercial Transactions. In Gabelli, AIS students will be well equipped to perform in the business world because the education provided transcends simply a conceptual framework, but instead, AIS provides the necessary IT knowledge to succeed in the accounting
The film Higher Learning is a call to action. It is a film that shows people as products of their environment. The film is set on a college campus, a place where most people learn about what they will do in their adult life to try to better the world or simply educate themselves in order to live a better life. However, life on the Columbus campus is not good; it is a battlefield between the races and sexes. I feel it is a bit exaggerated, but it allows people to see some of the issues that go on, on a college campus. The film focuses on three freshman (Malik, Kristen, & Remy) entering college. They enter a less than ideal new world that is filled with tension, anxiety and fear. Although the writer uses stereotypical characters, it

I’m applying for the AVID program due to the fact that I believe that I’m a hardworking student. I want to challenge myself so I can achieve the best I can be academically. I believe that this makes me an ideal addition to your program. I have been told by people that I’m well mannered, helpful, and that I follow directions.
Topic 3: IMSA seeks a talented, engaged student population that embodies a wide range of experiences; we believe that the diversity of our students makes our community stronger. Researchers should develop custom instruments (suitable to their needs) to study the cycling transportation performance, since there are no dedicated instruments in this field of research. In this study, we developed an operational Instrumented Probe Bicycle (IPB) that is designed, built, and tested. The IPB is a completely mobile system capable of collecting a variety of empirical data. Several IPBs have been created around the world, which are different from each other based on the type of data needed. Accordingly, data collection from IPB divides into two basic categories, internal bicycle data and external bicycle data. The internal data represent the bicycle movement characteristics (e.g. speed, and acceleration), or direct influences
My interest for the Attorney Advisor position with the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) arises from my longstanding commitment to constantly improve myself. I have always enjoyed legal research, writing, and the complexities of intellectual property. I have no doubt that my enthusiasm to research, my eagerness to learn, and my strong ability to communicate clearly, work efficiently, accurately, and quickly, will make me an invaluable asset to the USPTO. I believe these traits combined with my unique skillset, developed as a result of experiences working for the Arizona Diamondbacks of Major League Baseball (Diamondbacks), Nike Inc. (Nike), and the Arizona Attorney General’s Office, Liability Management Department (AG Office)

With the right dosage, IMRT can slow or even stop mesothelioma from progressing after extrapleural pneumonectomy (EPP), while still maintaining healthy lung function. The key has been to keep the radiation dose to the remaining lung low, while using a higher dose of radiation to treat the surgical area post-op.
Interco Summary of the Case Even before we go into the specifics of the case, we can point out a few important pieces of information from the case: 1) Interco management and Wall Street analysts believed that the apparel group’s performance would continue to weaken Interco’s overall operations and cause the equity markets to undervalue its common stock. Case Page 4. 2) To deter any unwanted third- party acquisition, the board voted on July 11, 1988, to amend Interco’s shareholder rights plan, making any hostile takeover of the company prohibitively expensive. Case Page 4. 3) Interco had retained Wasserstein Perella pursuant to a unique compensation contract that offered a substantial contingency fee of $3.7 million payable to Wasserstein
As the implementation of electronic health records (EHR) progress nationwide, the concepts of interoperability and health information exchange (HIE) must be discussed. The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (2005, p. 2) define interoperability as “the ability of health information systems to work together within and across organizational boundaries in order to advance the effective delivery of healthcare for individuals and communities.” Interoperability is the enabling of two systems, including those that do not share
ABSTRACT: It is challenging for students taking the introductory accounting information systems AIS course to envision how to apply the topics and concepts learned during the course in real-world situations. The motivation for this case study is to have groups of students apply the many topics and concepts learned in the first AIS course to a hypothetical real-world company situation, with particular emphasis on developing a proposed new and improved system for the
It is generally accepted that information is a vital commodity for the successful operation of today’s organizations. Nowadays modern business organizations are using computerized information systems in order to obtain such information. However as the technology advances rapidly the main issue is how can an organization should effectively use such an information system - which its management sometimes can be unpredictable - in order to effectively help the whole organization structure to improve and take the most out of it.
Following the undergraduate degree, an accounting student would choose an exclusive area to specialize in and work towards a completion of an additional year in university to finalize the 150 credit hours required in accounting to be eligible to sit for the Certified Public Accounting board exam. The 150 credit hours are needed to obtain the required body of knowledge and to develop the skills and abilities needed to be a successful CPA. After the theory portion of the educational experience is completed, the most important aspect becomes practical experience. Practical experience is what drives the market. The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants requires that either a one tier or two tier systems is required to obtain the CPA designation. This requires that relevant work experience is needed to become certified. This hands on experience helps to position a potential certified public accountant for a long and successful career. This professional curriculum is very detailed and requires a lot of individual steps entailed to reach the point of designation. If it were made into a professional school these segregated steps combined together would not only help to make things simpler, but it would allow the accounting profession to be similar to the curriculums of medicine, pharmacy and law. With an undergraduate degree, graduate theory and practice for four
