1 Who Do You Say Jesus Is? Savanah M. Cruz Grand Canyon University 101 Christian Worldview Mark Walth March 3, 2023
2 Who Do You Say Jesus Is? Jesus had intentions on this earth to teach, preach, and heal. Through his life he healed all the sick, deeply cared for The Man, and most of all never turned away children. Jesus had endless amounts of love to give to his people and taught all to forgive. Jesus himself died on the cross and even forgave those for killing him. To many Jesus may be known as a religious leader following Christianity which is one of the largest religions in the world. He himself is also known and referred to as the Incarnation of God. Refer to Mark, Matthew, Luke, and John to further grasp a deeper understanding. Teaching of Jesus In Matthew 5:21-24 Jesus is teaching his people that murder is a sin and you are opening yourself up to judgment by outsiders if you commit such crimes. Jesus wanted to enforce that cursing, anger, and crimes are not okay and can cause severe danger along with being taken to a courtroom. Jesus states “ And anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of hell.” (Matthew 5:22). In other words, murder, anger, cursing, or any other negativity is considered a sin. Regardless of the severity of a person's actions it is still a sin and you are opening yourself up to be judged by the lord. Before moving forward at the altar, reconcile your relationship with brothers and sisters. In Matthew 4:43-48 it discusses that you should love everyone that includes your enemies. “Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you” (Matthew 4:44). God has the sunshine on good and evil. Non-God believers may find this a harder pill to swallow as they are not familiar or aware with the way God loves. God does not love human beings all together but loves every individual in a unique way. God has intentions of giving forever love and unconditional love to all. Do not only greet and accept your own people, greet, and accept all and that is perfection. As our heavenly father is perfect. We know that no individual is perfect,
3 but we are taught to strive for perfection like The Lord. In order to live like our Heavenly Father, us people need to also love to like him. As Christians we are taught to love those who have even wronged us. Viewing this from an atheistic point of view they would not agree. Atheists would not love those who wronged them nor show respect to those people. Jesus’ teaching God's people that murder, anger, and cursing is a sin shows that he truly loves like God does. It shows that he loves all enemies and does not treat no one differently. He himself was killed on the cross and forgave his own killers instead of holding onto the anger. He continued to love his people and die on the cross to save all people from sin. Claim That Jesus Made About His Nature Many people have believed that Jesus came to heal the sick but, in all reality, he came to minister. Although, healing the sick was important that was pushed to the backburner so Jesus can preach the truth about all. His purpose was to preach his ministry. In the passage from John 10:25-38, Jesus makes a powerful claim about his nature and purpose. He states that he is the good shepherd who lays down his life for the sheep (John 10:11). He also states that he is one with the Father and that no one can take his life from him (John 10:18). This claim is significant because it reveals Jesus' divine nature as the Son of God and affirms his mission to save humanity from sin. This is further emphasized by Jesus' proclamation that he is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6). Moreover, Jesus' claim about his nature and purpose underscores the importance of faith in God and the need for humanity to accept his death and resurrection as a means of salvation. According to Matthew Henry's Commentary, "The design of Christ in all this was to assure his disciples of his resurrection, and of the security of those who believe in him and obey him; and to invite us to come to him, that we may have life, and have it more abundantly”. Thus, Jesus' claim about his nature and purpose is significant because it reveals his
