On a scale from 1 - 10, how self-actualized do you believe you are (1 = not at all; 10 = highly self-actualized) and why (based on the course materials, describe the evidence you have to support that rating)? Which aspects of your personal identity (e.g., age, gender, ethnicity, culture, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, language, neurodiversity, ability/disability, etc.) have been most helpful to you in terms of supporting your journey to self-actualization? What do you believe is the biggest current obstacle that limits your progression towards higher levels of self-actualization? Or, if you scored yourself as a 10, what future obstacles might set you back at some point in your life? On a scale from 1-10, I feel like I am at a 5 on how self-actualized I am. I think I am a 5 because I have fulfilled a part of my goal by receiving my AA degree in Psychology and starting a job that shows interest in my field in Psychology but I am still working on earning my BS in psychology and still thinking about what I truly want to do with my degree and future career. Self-actualized people, in Maslow's view, are those who have met their basic needs to a fair enough degree that people are freed up to concentrate on health, growth, completeness, integration, and the "real problems" rather than being consumed by the overwhelming urge to satisfy the deprivation of their basic requirements of existence ( 12 Self-Actualizing People.pdf , n.d.) Although he had no intention of conducting a formal research project, he felt obligated to publish his findings after being so satisfied with the outcomes. He sought out persons who seemed to have fully utilized their abilities, potential, and capabilities among those he knew personally as well as well-known public and historical characters (Allen, 2020). The aspect of my personality identity that helped me support my journey to self-actualization is my age. I personally feel that as I was growing up I always felt like I wanted to help people and as I started to become a young adult I always leaned towards social work and one day I picked up a psychology book and took psychology classes and changed my major and I knew that is what fascinated me and helped me through community college and getting my first job in the field. I believe that the biggest current obstacle that limits my progression towards a higher level of self-actualization is that I feel stuck not knowing what I want to do exactly with my degree and if the job I have now that is in the psychology field is the one that I want to do forever.
