Repelling Charge versus distance Question: what is the relationship between two similarly charged objects and the distance between each other? Materials: Balloon Tape Fishing wire Pith ball Ruler Procedures: 1. Suspend the pith ball from two equal-length fishing wires. 2. Measure the length between the pith ball and the surface from which it is suspended. 3. Charge the inflated balloon using a wool sweater or pet hair. 4. While measuring the distance between the balloon and the pith ball, record the displacement of the pith ball. 5. Continue this measuring while moving the balloon closer to the pith ball. 6. Ensure you have at least 6 data points, preferably at regular intervals.
