Response:
During this week we studied the article of Faith 13, and for those who are not familiar with it, this article of faith is a beautiful passage that provides wonderful insights on how we should conduct our life while we are on this planet. The first time I read this article of faith, I was simply speechless at how in just a few words, it enlisted some of the most important attributes we need to pursue in our lives such as honesty, truth, virtue, love, chastity, and faith. It was very powerful to read a reminder of what matters in life. It is very easy to just live human lives and forget the purpose of being here. I have always felt that my time while I am here has to be worth it. I know that living a virtuous life is the beginning to get back to our Heavenly Father. Something that I loved reading this week was that by acquiring knowledge, we can get closer to God as we read in 2 Peter 1:1–12. Something I also like reading is in 3 Nephi 27:19. In this scripture the Lord is saying that “no unclean thing can enter in His kingdom.” At first, I thought this was a very strong scripture, however, now I understand that what the Lord is saying is that we must strive to be always clean. We are indeed humans, but that does not mean that we will not do our best to be clean of sins. Something wonderful we have is repentance and thanks to Jesus Christ we can be forgiven. Mosiah 5:2-4 explains how we are responsible for our conversion. We must understand that it is not just about saying it but doing it. I have a strong testimony that we are sent here to learn, grow, and become better souls. I know that the Lord knows what our soul needs to become more like Jesus Christ, and we just need to be humble enough to see the opportunities we encounter in life to learn and be better. Word Count: 345 4. Synthesis: Personal Relevance and Application to the Real World There are many serious challenges people encounter on a daily basis that are consequences of living in a fallen world. The gospel truths taught in the Articles of Faith have tremendous power to help people find answers, rise above problems, or simply feel God's love and concern for them again. Each week you will choose an issue (below) and think deeply about how the truths in that week’s Article of Faith can offer hope to those who are experiencing the problem. If you have another issue that particularly interests you, then choose your own: abortion abuse/bullying addiction depression divorce domestic violence energy/environmental issues violence gambling genocide homosexuality
